Hence why I am extremely reluctant to trade out any players from last year's draft. It was touted as one of the strongest drafts with the quality coming through in all different shapes and sizes.

I'm reluctant too. But I don't consider it a situation whereby he is off limits in a NWM trade provided it reduces the amount of high picks required. If St Kilda see him as a steak knife throw in as opposed to a key piece of the deal, then it would be irresponsible for Port to even consider such a trade knowing they could get the deal done by other means.

Assuming Port offloads Berry and Whitlock as some people have suggested here, how are Port gonna fill up their list spots? More B/C grade players who can't get games from other clubs and become even more awful with the amount of of list cloggers already on the list?

Drafting? This year's draft crop is very poor and that means having to wait until 2026 and by then Butters could be on his way out and further delay Port's raise up the ladder.

Berry will make it. Port are not offloading him. They will give him another preseason.

I'm hoping not, but I still think Saints will want Bergman in the deal somehow. Just because he signed for 2 years doesn't mean he wouldn't be against a shift back home.

no way is keeler worth more than whitlock, he eas pick 44 in 2022 draft.

its his 3rd system, and he hasnt cracked the 22 yet consistently.

Whitlock in his draft year was a projected top 20 pick, he slid to 33.
Isaac Keeler has been playing AFL footy regularly and has been doing well; hence, most here want him.

His stock has risen since the draft, so you're looking at another first-round pick. If Whitlock is to be considered a first-round pick, then so is Keeler.

A name I'd like us to consider is Alex Dodson, given that the ruck department is śhithouse, but that seems unrealistic for acquiring him.

That would be the biggest backflip ever and it would speak volume of how awful Port is as a club if they re-signed a guy only to then backflip in a matter of a few months.

If Bergman was that keen to move back home, why did he re-signed then? Carr and co. sold him the vision and Bergman re-signed based on that.

Keeler is about the same as you would value Ollie Lord. Reckon Lords a first round pick?

Whitlock would be about the same, but needing another year or two, so longer term prospect for slighty less money.

It feels like the Port fanbase is an even split between those that expect Todd to come back and play a key role for the next 5 years, and those who have put a line through him.

I sit pretty firmly in the latter. Leaves us with MG and Luko as proven key forwards before we go to Esava/Lord. Thats not great.
We are putting a lot of hope on Luko paying off, if he doesn’t work out we’re fkd.
I’d be keeping Whitlock, he definitely has some ability and with decent coaching could turn out very good.

If you can get a 2nd Round pick for Lord to use in the NWM deal then you do it. If you can get nothing of value for him then you keep him. I'd like to see him play under a decent system. I think the supposed demise of Burton is not happening and no way any of players who've recently re-signed will be a part of a NWM deal - Farrell, Sinn or Bergman. My opinion only.

Honestly in my wildest dreams I can’t see the club involving Bergman in any deal.
With the sort of deal he has on offer they won’t all of a sudden move him out for anyone.
That scenario is totally ridiculous.

You can’t say what we got for a 28 year old Houston was a pittance but in the same breath say a future first plus Whitlock is too much for a 22 year old NWM. It’s ridiculous and contradictory.

You're right but value is in the eye of the beholder. Who is worth more 2 x AA who was a top 5 player in the comp 2 years in a row who is at his peak or a player who is coming to his peak in the next few years?
Houston was unders for sure. Future first and Whitlock for Nas is unders too but what if Whitlock improves out of sight? Is a tall worth more? Future First, Whitlock and 2025 2nd Round sounds about right.

The short and easy answer is NWM is worth a lot more.

Top 5 player in the comp is also a massive stretch for Houston. Or did you mean top 5 at port?

See how one’s playing AFL footy and the other isn’t and hasn’t made his debut yet?

Taking the piss, lol.

Keeler's stock has risen; that’s just a fact and has shown glimpses of talent. Yeah, he’s OOC, but he’ll still cost more on top of bringing Nas to the footy club, especially if a deal looks like: Whitlock, a future 1st and a current 2nd for NWM straight up.

I think the answer is more complex than that. There are no guarantees a young player is going to progress and also there is no guarantees a player is going to fit into a system. A free wheeling NWM would fit into a Hinkley system quite well. But it won't mean we win anything. The unanswered question is bearing in mind St Kilda are 15th with NWM playing at all time highs how much will he move the needle for us? Saying that I think he will move the needle for sure but selling the farm is not on. No Tim Kelly trades please.

Yea maybe not a first rounder per se for Keeler but I reckon that view him quite highly as someone who’s apart of thier future for sure.

They would view him in the same lens as we did with Ollie Lord.

He would not come cheap.

Champion Data had him as a Top 5 player in the comp in 2023 & 2024
Champions data lists NWM as the 4th highest rated player in the league in 2025.

Likely All Australian this season and wins our BnF.

Our struggles this year are due to personnel missing and having the 3rd youngest list in the comp.

Nas has excelled this season in spite of that.
