Interesting on Gettable today, apparently Bergman "waited and got information" before re-signing with Port. I assume that information related to Nas.

What is the inside feel on Butters? We get the sense that what he decides to do will have a big impact on what happens. I imagine if he says he wants to go back to Victoria that it will either mean he comes to us (which I think is less likely) or he goes to Hawks/Dogs etc and whatever you get for him is passed on to us. Nas' manager could then say to Nas, Port and us that a deal could theoretically be done.

That’s not it at all. They are independent scenarios. If anything, if we get Nas, he’s more likely to stay.

And I imagine Carr would want to see them in the same side.

I think anyone would want them in the same side. Just going by what the media is saying in particular what Tom Morris reported recently on Hawks going after Butters.

Good contribution there. You must be in that % range of deranged and talking about yourself. Congrats 👍

If you had a brain and actually used it regarding this, you'd realise that pick 1 alone is better than what GWS got for Jeremy Cameron in draft value by a few hundred points. What Saints do with that pick 1 is up to them if they choose to split or get future picks. But it's a smart move to cover all angles. I'm sure you could throw late round picks in to smooth it over too.

Perhaps you should stay on the Saints board where you appear to hang out.

Nobody knows.

Would not be surprised at all if we got to the end of the year and he sat down with the club and asked if the picks he gets us are better this year or next.

Would not be surprised if he thinks 6 years from now playing in the same side as Dougie Cochrane, Zemes Pilot and a host of really good academy kids we have lined up would be good fun and he signs on for 10 years.

No clue at all.

As long as we are not Bottom 4 this time next year he will re-sign with us. If we are a basket case we will probably let him go happily to where he wants to go on big cash and do a small re-build like in 2018. I don't see any world where he goes this year.
 
I know things can be said in the media regarding contracts that can be walked back on, but i think it's been made pretty clear from all parties involved that Butters will be playing at Port next year. He is contracted and correctly he is probably going to see how things look next year before deciding.

It seems a bit more categorical than the pre finals window dressing from Houston last year.

I know Saints fans are keen to profit from a loss of NWM with either 8 first rounders or Butters, but that's not how it works.

Vic media want him to leave and come home. Therefore it appears to the masses as that is what is going to happen. However there is absolutely zero indication Butters wants to leave. In fact the opposite, he absolutely loves the club, is vice captain and has a great relationship with Carr. At the very worst case, he will be playing for Port next year before leaving, however I can’t see that happening. If we do get Nas, that would just strengthen his chance of staying.

Because he was doing an interview and was asked about it. And his comment was that he was confident that list management team could get a deal done.

People do realise that you don't have complete control over what questions are asked when doing a media interview right?
