it’s incredibly lame to not give credit where it’s due just because you don’t like a club.

Adelaide have definitely done well in the recruitment department which has made up for their diabolical drafting between 2016-2020.

Their form this year is probably superior to any of our top 4 sides over the last 5 years. They could absolutely win it.

That said, I agree that that things change, and they may not be the same side next year. But that can be said for any club.
Yes. But they were shizen for 8 yrs and some on this board talk them up like they are Brisbane circa 2001 and beyond. We thought that we might be on a roll after 2014 and look how that turned out. The crom are very reliant on two or three good players. Should they get a few injuries they will struggle as much as any. Also their deliberately AFL assisted fixture will be a lot tougher next year.

I will be perfectly fine. If he decides to leave, it is his choice--the club has done everything it can to make him happy. In the end, I had the same view when Battle left last year--if the player doesn't want to play for the club, then they can go. You should have the same view with Butters (as tough as it is).
Yeah agreed

Well in the recruitment dept?

Dawson and rankine were crows fans wanting to come home, and thilthorpe was the number 1 draft pick from their wooden spoon year.

a bollard in charge of recruiting gets the same result.

There’s a decent core around them but it’s probably the minimum you would expect from years of being a cellar dweller.

What’s been their most impressive win?

Brisbane owned them in that last quarter just couldn’t kick straight so that doesn’t count

Hawks + Suns home/bulldogs away tbh that’s a bit meh

We are SANFL at best rn

It’s not like theyre beating Geelong, Brisbane or a Collingwood away at the moment

They’re good and in the mix but hardly some unstoppable machine that will crush a flag by the end of Q1 on GF

Brisbane should have won, they lost to Collingwood only by 10 points but Collingwood looked drained that day maybe due to their game in Perth the week before.
But they have been more competitive against those 2 sides the last couple of years than what we have been. Like us they still struggle against Geelong most of the time. They would need to probably beat all 3 in the finals to win the flag if they do good on em but I think they fall just short.

A friend of mine who is well connected in the Aboriginal community and not a Port supporter says that the Crows are absolutely hopeless with how they deal with indigenous lads but Port are excellent. He thinks Nasiah will be best suited to Port, particularly with his strong friendships with Jase and JHF.

Kind of thought the crows were next to no chance landing him!?
the cows being currently first means that their 1st round pick (which everyone is going on about them having a 1st round pick and we dont) is currently pick 18 and this also means that this pick could end up being pick 22 or 23 (2nd round) in the draft due to all the NGA & father sons going in the 1st round :)

our first pick currently 26 could end up being 29 also in the 2nd round

So, them doing good this year and us doing bad this year is bring the chase for NAS more into a level playing field (on the draft pick scenario)

With the pending free agents and incredibly compromised first round due academies, Crows first pick could be 25+ easily this year. Take away the academy players, this is an extremely weak and shallow draft as well.

Adelaide have generally done well with injuries. Call it the anti-rose coloured glasses, but Port have had many years of worse injuries than them, since we entered the AFL. Yeah, you say their list is kissed on the dick, with most available, but the record books aren't going to put an asterisk against their flag with a footnote 'only won because they weren't injured!' if they do win it.

They don't have the best list, but they've got one of the best that gets on the park. All year we've said they'll crack under real pressure, yet they're on top and it's not all from beating up on bottom sides like Port have done in the past. If all finals sides play to their best they aren't winning it, but a few weeks from finals they are performing the best of the sides there.

Of course I hope they crack under the pressure of finals, but sometimes it feels like they just keep coming up Milhouse, as their opponents put in some of their worst performances of the season, despite Adelaide applying real pressure themselves. If I was a betting man, I'd bet they aren't going to win, but with their luck on-field (not to mention likely two home finals where the umpires will let them play by a different set of rules to the opposition) and I won't be surprised if they do. I'd find it the darkest humour. Where we'd have tolerated a successful Adelaide anytime the last 6 or 7 years to force Koch's hand, only to have it this year when the club has fallen apart and Hinkley is out the door anyway. If there is a footy god, his fetish is pissing on Port when we're down.

it will be an interesting draft with the new system.

with the system last year, the cows had 1990 worth of points.
currently the cows are on 1152 points (so they lost 838 points with the new system) :D

for us we had 1214 worth of points
currently we are on 728 points (so we lost 486 points with the new system)

The saints are crying :'( because their current pick 4 could turn into pick 9 (due to the NGA & Father/sons) a drop of 5 positions

if all picks fall 5 positions
the cows live picks for points are: -
pick 18 (836) and if it goes to 23 (it is 653) - 2nd round
pick 43 (184) and if it goes to 48 (it is 102) - 3rd round
pick 47 (118) and if it goes to 52 (it is 42) - 3rd round
pick 54 (14) and if it goes to 59 (it is 0)
------
1152 draft points that then goes to 797 draft points

for us
Pick 26 and if it goes to 31 (it is 429) - 2nd round
pick 44 and if it goes to 49 (it is 86) - 3rd round
-------
728 draft points that then goes to 515 draft points

So, the cows could have an extra 3rd round pick (compared to us) in this draft to offer

which is very interesting

we both have all our 2026 & 2027 draft picks

You lost me at , it will be an interesting draft 😂

maybe I should have said fun trade period for this draft

when a lot of supporters realize that their club has lost heaps of points due to the NGA / Father-son / free agency movements

the only safe picks would be 1 to 3 in the first round
