The PSD threat will also be completely real despite many wanting to discount it. We will likely hold a lower pick than the Saints. None of the other clubs will burn a pick on a kid that doesn't want to be there. No player in PSD history has ever been intercepted, particularly when nominating a break the bank salary and term that wouldn't be worth the while of the clubs below us.
We intercepted John McCarthy who wanted to get to Richmond.

No player as good as Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera has ever made it to the PSD, because no destination club has ever been stupid enough to allow that to happen. If he does, 5 clubs aren't going to just roll over and allow us to take a 22 year old young superstar for free.

Of all the clubs below us, Essendon in particular with their big club ego and the Wanganeen connection would pick him up and try to convince him to stay. Or get a king's ransom for him at the trade table in 2026 if they can't.

We actually have much more to offer than the Crows. Just because they have a first this year, doesn’t mean they have more. Everyone thinks we will suck again next year, so next years first will be a top 5 pick, where their first this year and next, will both be 20+.

Coobk001 if Nas gets to us in the PSD I'll do a nude lap of Alberton. It is a 0% chance of happening.

I dont think he will either. I think we will trade for him, but I also think that when you're talking about an uncontracted player, and the Saints become completely unreasonable (which they will), the PSD has to remain a real threat. Especially if we hold a better pick than the Saints and the Crows.

I totally disagree that we won't be able to secure him through the PSD if we absolutely come to that point. He can nominate a salary cap busting, 1 year deal, that would just be stupid for anyone else to pick up a guy for 1 year that doesnt want to be there and destroys their banked salary cap to just leave the next year. J Mac was already considering us before the PSD and knew he'd go to us when he nominated. Im unaware of any player that has ever said im leaving to go home and hasnt got to where they wanted.

Again, im not saying it will happen, but when jt comes to bargaining chips, if the Saints are totally unreasonable, it is absolutely on the table.

"As such, we will continue to make shit up to get clicks. I've resorted to reworking made up stuff from Kymbo and the Rooch into my hourly updates. I feel dirty."

Yeh, do that and just call us Port Adelaide Power and base us at Alberton and play home games at the Adelaide Oval.... and just make the guernsey the ones we have now. Perfect merge really.

Saint Kilda can at least bring Eric Bana.

Yep not sure Adelaide ‘at least they have a first rounder to trade this year’ cuts it. Crows first this year will be worth slightly more than what our first is. Both will probably be in the 20’s.

Biggest **** up for Port was last year giving up pick 6/7 to the Gold Coast for JL.

This is such a weak and shallow draft as well, so pick 25 is really not worth much at all.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I still think its best value for us might be to get into bed with a club with F/S or academy selections in the first round that they want to trade out as its reasonably close for points, especially if we can find another pick with a good points value. The result is the other club chews up 25 and they keep the other pick to use, and for us the benefit is we have 'on paper' a first round pick to use (which helps us iwth the rule re first round pick selections) and makes it easier to trade out future firsts.

Especially if trading out future firsts involved us getting future seconds/thirds back for bid matching.

To be fair pick 6/7 gets you about the 11-12th best talent at best this year given priority picks, NGA and father son players.

The 11-12th best prospect of this year is equivalent to a player in the 20's talent wise, in most other drafts.

It's well known to be the worst open draft of the last decade.

There's been some talk about us trading with Gold Coast to get our pick back. They really need points as they are expecting a bid on another Academy gun before that pick.

Interesting, who would they want? Dimma would like L Jones plus picks

This makes absolutely no sense. If no one knows what he wants to do, how can anyone be confident. Absolute BS that all 3 clubs are confident.

PSD is on the table inasmuch as it's a nobody gets him nuclear option. If he goes PSD, the Saints lose him for nothing, and we've failed to gain ground but we haven't lost any either, so it's worse for them than it is for us. But if he goes to the PSD I'd bet my house he doesn't get past Essendon, if he's not already taken before then which I expect he would be.

It's presumably all a moot point anyway, because our offer will be enough that the Saints aren't going to send him to the PSD to make a point, even if it's not what they consider fair value. We did it with Stevens, but our offer for NWM will be significantly more than Collingwood's offer was for Stevens. It won't be the sort of offer you reject on principle.

The thing is, the PSD threat isn't NWM coming to Port for nothing, its NWM leaving St Kilda for nothing. (which you've said since...)

It just means Port's offer just needs to be reasonable enough that it convinces NWM that St Kilda is being unreasonable that it kills off his relationship with that club. So St Kilda is faced with a choice of we lose him for nothing or we accept two future firsts (as an example).

People can bleat on about 2027 picks being worthless because its the Tassie entry draft but they're worth a lot more than not getting anything.

They currently have 8,13,17 which would all get chewed up in matchign a bid on Zeke Uwland at 1.

Swapping in our 26 for either 13 or 17 would still get them Uwland so, one option is to package that with another pick or player for 13 or 17 (rather than our pick 8).
On current draft order, and using that as an estimate for the next two years, it would give us picks ahead of the crows in each of the next 3 drafts, which gives us currecny for NWM.

Alternatively, if we know for sure we have NGA rights to Cochrane next year, maybe swapping 8 for our future first is also a live option as part of a larger trade..... but Im unsure how that actively helps us for NWM, and unless we are getting extra picks nesxt year would leave us short for Cochrane.
