What is Johnson if not a rebounding defender?

Maxwell and Sack are both third talls who probably focus more on affecting an aerial contest than Blight will, although both those boys have rebounding aspects to their games they don't tend to run and carry as much as Blight. I'd be inclined to liken Blight more to Shaw in his style of play.
At a guess (without any stats) I'd think Blight is a bit smaller than those two as well, although I could be wrong, I just cbf'd looking it up.

HB: Shaw, Reid, Blight

Now we're talking, rebound central :thumbsu: Not even taking into account some action from Maxwell and H.

No, I think he will have more ariel impact than Johnson or Shaw. I see his as a Goddard-type half back flank. He has courage in the air, and can get it on the ground and use it long.

He will be a third man up type of defender (not loose, though). He was 189 cm when drafted, and may have grown a bit since then.

Regardless of what the OP has, when have two blokes ever come from outside the first 22 and walked straight into roles vacated by experienced veterans?
The OP isn't saying that though. He's asking who'll step into the 22 when O'Bree/Lockyer move on. It was never implied that these two players would directly fill their roles.

If O'Bree goes, a current best 22 players takes O'Bree's role, and a young player moves into the team to take a lesser role, the younger player is taking O'Bree place in the 22, which is what the OP seemed to ask.

People seemed to have made the assumption it was a thread about directly replacing the role of Lockyer/O'Bree for some reason.

Fair point, it could be interpreted either way I guess. Dswan (the poster) is hard to understand and interpret at the best of times I must say.

So if Jolly and Dawes come into the side they are replacing Lockyer and O'Bree?
Well the OP's example had O'Bree/Lockyer retiring at the end of 2010.

I'm fairly sure Jolly will be in our best 22 before the end of next year, just quietly.

It is perfectly possible that Dawes takes Lockyer's position in our best 22. He won't be taking his role though.

The example still stands, if we are talking about replacing Lockyer and O'Bree of course we are talking about their roles.. otherwise we may as well just speculate on the next 2 players to cement a place in the team and it would be pointless even mentioning Lockyer and O'Bree.. this is so self evident I can't believe there is a debate about it.
O'Bree retires.
Current best 22 players moves into O'Bree's role (Player A).
Player outside the best 22 moves into the team to replace player A (Player B).

Player B is not taking O'Bree's role, Player A is. Player B is taking O'Bree place in the best 22 though. I don't see what's hard about that?

I went to buy some fish today, but the price was far higher than usual!

Now we're discussing the price of fish.....nevermind what the OP said :)

If blight plays like that in the big league he will get caught holding the ball more often than not! Its crazy the way he plays on in those highlights!

Also he seems to take a long time to put ball to foot from his hands, on the drop..

He looks to have a long kick thats one postitive and also some nice vision but if thats suppost to be his highlights package im not convinced... some of the marks he taken he only just held. He will either be a star or very ordinary. One of the two extremes!

They've definitely tightened up his kicking action, that was the one thing I noticed straight away from that clip... It looks a far bit different to his action now, it is a lot smoother, back then his ball drop and timing of the swing of the foot weren't really in cohesion, but his kicking certainly isn't a problem with his game from what I've seen. He tends to just go long to a contest a lot of the time in that he probably isn't a pin point pass, but his leg is a weapon, when you are rebounding out of the 50 I'm more than content to take the 30m of run and then the 60m punt down the line than perfectly hitting up a target.

He rebounds like that in the VFL as well and he is fine, he'll have no problem doing it on the significantly larger MCG.
I don't think he'd be too phased that you weren't convinced about him from a 5 minute highlight reel that would been put together over a year old now. Nothing that I've seen of him yet has had me thinking, 'shit, this guy is going to be very ordinary', probably the polar opposite to be honest.

Jarryd Blair is our next Shane O'Bree.
Brent Macaffer is our next Tarykn Lockyer.
And Ben Reid is our new Presti
With Nathan Brown replacing Leigh Brown.
