The shoes is on the other foot

Just listening to MM on SEN.

Looks as though the Pies may be sending a please explain to the AFL due to a 3rd quarter incident where an umpire touched one of our players.

Re: The shoes is on the other foot

Lol. This whole touching business is absolutely pathetic!!!

Umpire touched Collingwood Player?

Robbo on SEN asked MM if there was an incident in the third quarter when an Umpire touched a Collingwood player
MM replied that we are reviewing the tape and looking into the incident

Re: Umpire touched Collingwood Player?

there isn't a rule against this is there? i recall seeing umpires try to move players with a bit of a push every now and then. unless we're talking about touched touched.

Re: The shoes is on the other foot

I was suprised that this issue wasn't raised last week. We frequently see umpires touch players when they're addressing them about a free kick. Vosso does it all the time. Players don't react to it because it's a nothing incident. But now the umpires and the AFL want to make an issue of it. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Not sure, possibly just Collingwood trying to make a point about the Shaw suspension

Exactly +1

Re: Umpire touched Collingwood Player?

Apologies Mods, can you merge this thread with the other one on this topic?

I possibly could've made my title a little clearer to be honest.

Re: Umpire touched Collingwood Player?

SEN are alleging that umpire McLaren pushed O'Bree in the chest in the 3rd quarter.
It didn't go to air on Channel 7, but 7 are looking at the tape from the other camera's

I made the same point last week, if the umpires are too precious to get touched by us, we should drag them into court if need be the other way. Otherwise, smarten up, and let incidental be incidental, and not an example, for dummies of the future, that can't make a decision on the individual incident.

Re: Umpire touched Collingwood Player?

Collingwood as a club shouldnt get dragged into this.

Heath Shaw broke a rule, copped his fair whack, now let's move on.

Even if McLaren did push O'bree or any other Collingwood player, Collingwood should take the higher moral ground and let the AFL investigate, and if nothing comes of it, so be it.

This is one point where Eddie should actually refuse to comment if asked about it, because to my knowledge, McLaren hasnt broken any rule of the game, so nothing will come of this except for more usless banter.

Re: Umpire touched Collingwood Player?

Now if O'B was on his game, he would've gone down like he'd been shot-gunned and then required a stretcher to take him from the ground.

It would have been up there with that d1(#head last week, who audibled over his mic "don't push me!" after Heater had placed his hand on the twat's upper arm.

Re: Umpire touched Collingwood Player?

I'm outraged!

Has the player been counselled? Has the Umpire been counselled? Have the Galbally's been consulted yet?

In what spirit did that umpire allegedly touch the player? Was it - God forbid - a "fondle"?

Re: The shoes is on the other foot

In order to prevent any gray areas the rule should be that there is to be no deliberate contact by player or umpire. This way it's clear cut and incidental contact does not see a player suspended. How do you punish an umpire who makes deliberate contact though??

If it was a genuine shove? The 6-8 that was suggested by some for Shaw. Back to the u12 where the players won't touch you but the parents might belt ya ;)

blah blah blah umpires umpires umpires whinge whinge whinge...

every second pies post is umpire this and umpire that.

it's not the umpires fault that you've only the one flag since Fidel Castro's revolutionary army attacked Havana. (i know most on the pies blogs won't know what this means but just trust me).

it's because you're no good.

incidentally, it's WE'RE, not WERE.

So...do you often hang around the Magpies board just waiting for a chance to make a tool of yourself?
