O'Bree is a dud....

if he does not get delisted at the end of the season, I will seriously consider not renewing my social club membership.

I don't pay good money to see duds like that running around in a Collingwood jumber.

Today again validated clamims that he is soft as butter. One particular instance were he fumbled a easy ball and lost possesion as he knew contact was coming.

i paid for a full membership knowing full well that i would probably get to go to 1 or 2 games this year just to support the club.

then i have to watch obree,williams,shaw and co.

good effort by some of the boys today clement,burns mcgough were good

did lonie fall in a hole today because he was hardly sighted?

hehe you know as u said that, i had to check the stats to see if williams actually played!

didnt think i saw him, but then again these days that doesnt really mean much.....

yeah he played a much better game today! it seems he actually had 0 clangers! and didnt drop any marks!

O'brees time has well and truly passed. Wouldn't even get a trade for him these days. Nobody wants blokes who are as slow as a wet week and can't kick over a jam tin.:(

If anything Carlton did a slight variation of Collingwood in their recruiting last year.
Malthouse delisted alot however he only drafted a handfull of usefull experience players like Clement, Holland (had an average year 2001, shocking 2002, great 2003), Freeborn (he was stable but maligned), Molloy (protected the young kids nicely and did the one percenters, too bad it only lasted one season however, but I think we were better off seing Michael was asking to go), and I think he also got Licuria.
The only difference was Carlton did it out of necessity due to their salary cap penalties.

He's a Malthouse love child for whatever reason. MM picked him as being the best rover to ever play ANZAC Days for us. What the...?

Back to Willi for O'Bree. I don't think he's a dud, but he needs to improve 150% on his current form.

MM's standard procedures need a bit of work too. For example, why he can't blood a kid in the forward line is beyond me. Mullins would be sensational playing that half-forward role. Luke won't be able to play loose/unaccountable, as he'd be manned up.

I've been saying this for a while. He doesn't give a stuff about the pies. Drop him and trade him, let McGough and Mullins fill in for the season they may not have his talent but they have 10 times the ticker.
 
O'Bree's down on form and confidence and he is not alone in our team. He has been forced with the retirement of so many older players last year to step into a role he isn't comfortable with, that is being an older senior member of the playing group.

Once he gets the hang of that new role.... if he does I think he will start playing OK again. Maybe a stint at Willy is the best for him, but don't write him off.
 
When Lockyer is back O'Bree is redundant. I hope MM sees that. Lockyer is better skilled, a little faster and much braver. He should any role MM has planned for O'Bree in any game.
 
Maybe a stay at Williamstown will help O'Bree? Shaw is in the same boat as O'Bree, both down on confidence, and both aren't performing. And both should be dropped for this weekend.
 
o'bree has replied with a near BOG performance.
doesn't mean that he's redeemed himself yet for some pretty ordinary performances lately but needs to be played in the midfield for the team to get any value out of him.
 
Great effort from O'Bree as far as getting the ball goes but ordinary use on too many occasions. If he plays like that every week we can accept the turnovers and floaters that don’t go to advantage but he won’t get the ball that often regularly. The good news is he may have lifted his trade value.

OBree is pretty much a one position player. He belongs in the square and ain't that crash hot anywhere else. Ditto McGough. he looks silly trying to tag when his little legs won't keep up with his man.

However when they are our no 1 and 2 midfielders (ie starting in the square and playing ther 15-20 minutes per quarter) they get the ball, all day long. Maybe we should make these boys our 1&2 midfielders.

I know Bucks is a better midfielder but he is gold wherever he plays. Is it better to have a star in the square and 2 duds on the flanks, or 2 competent midfielders in the square and a star on the flanks?
 
When at full strength this is how we should line up in my View.

Centreline: Lockyer Buckley O'Bree

Followers: Fraser McGough Burns

With Woey on the back flank or forward flank and Lica Tagging.

you've payed plenty of $ to see players such as wild,godden,patterson and kinnear run around.
o'bree has had a lean patch of form but it has to be considered that he has been played out of position for quite a while now.
bottom line, if mm does not see o'bree as a midfielder then he must be traded as he provides us with no value elsewhere.

god i hate that "i'm not renewing my membership if..............."
line.
o'bree wont be delisted at the end of this year so start planning what you're going to do with the extra $ next year.
