O'Brien fined and jockeys suspended

Their has been a bit of a storm lately in the UK over O'Brien's use of pacemakers. I'm sure most people will have seen Haradasun's race at Ascot as an example.

Interestingly O'Brien has decided to bring out stable jockeys for all three of his Melbourne Cup runners.

"I hope he'll be ridden more positively and be closer to the pace. It looks like being a strongly-run race because Aidan O'Brien has two pacemakers so we certainly wouldn't want to be that far back."

Perhaps it is just a bit of a broad shot at O'Brien from Luca but I hope the stewards have made the rules of racing in Australia very clear to O'Brien.

I too have been wondering if O'Brien is going to use the European style pacemakers as well. I reckon he will you know and it'll be too late to do anything about it after the event.
I bet you that Bruce Clarke will defend it as a legitimate tactic though ie. if he has a good collect.

Pace in the Great Race is long overdue IMO.
Ensures that all horses get their chance...Lloyd should be licking his lips.
I dont believe theres anything illegal in having your horses race at the front?

Truly run races are scarce in Australia,especially at Gp level.
How often have we seen farcical Gp races where the jockeys are afraid to make any sort of move
& the winner comes from the first 4 on the corner.

TJ & Gai have made a career out of it.

So what he just puts his two other horses at the front and races the race at a pace he likes? Then let's Septimus mow them down on the home stretch? I'd like to see more tactics in racing.

Sounds like a brilliant plan to steal a cup - but $6 in a MC is mighty slim odds.
