I guess we have to come to terms with the fact that we are not a destination club.
My expectations are for SOS to trade for picks in the top 25 and to pick up whatever 20-24 y.o scraps he can.

Players like Marchbank would be ideal, but if they choose another club, so be it. Solid drafting is the key. Our time will come..

Get a mid with pick 5.
Use our salary cap room to drive up the price of every free agent regardless of whether we are serious, forcing pies , bombers etc to cough up ridiculous coin.
Be front and square waiting for the players that fall free

What are any of The Recruits like, maybe another avenue to nab a ruckman, though only 199cms.
Small fwd pocket/midfielder.
194cm utility with strong hands (iffy disposal?).
Not sure where they're all from as last years chose PTA as from SA?

I wonder if we'll get a chance to get Hisham Kerbatieh, put all our listed players to shame this season and would have definitely played games. Like his ability to kick a goal and seems to have pace and skills and a good side step. Looks like a type who'd handle AFL well.

I dont want anyone who was not good enough to play at least 10 games for there side in 2016, injuries aside if they were not good enough to do that it means they were not good enough for AFL and will just be getting more Tutts, Dicks, Jaksch, Whiley etc etc..

From the draft
I want
Pick 5 - Best available mid (McGrath/Brodie)
Pick 23 - Best available mid, must have exceptional kicking skills (Galluci, Clarke) Would consider Kerr as a Key Forward option with a passion for CFC.
Pick 41 - Mature aged mid like Michael Gibbons
Pick 49 - Young big bodied ruckmen (no stick insects) perhaps Jeremy Goddard.

I hope so also. would of played most the season for the first have seen him play and watched highlights looked on a different level than all afl listed and vfl players playing Vfl football was rated close to one of the best small forwards in the draft crop but recruiters passed as had a poor tank but looks a different player this year would sit well in our pocket needing the X factor good read below ....

HISHAM Kerbatieh arrived at Northern Blues last summer determined to earn the respect of his new teammates but unsure what to expect.

After two standout seasons at TAC Cup club Calder Cannons, the excitement machine was overlooked in the 2015 AFL national and rookie drafts due to queries about his endurance.
Carlton showed enough interest to convince Kerbatieh his future was at Princes Park as most of his Calder teammates headed to fellow VFL outfit Coburg.

Two questions mix of stars. What's your connection with him and how much has his endurance improved this year? He sure can light up the crowd while he's out on the field!

My hopes
  • Keep pick 5
  • Trade in Caleb Marchbank
  • Trade out Everitt, Graham
  • Snag a couple of the quality depth and icing players that will present in the late second, third and even into the fourth round of the draft
  • Keep Zach Tuohy unless we get overs
That's four new pieces of our future premiership list without losing anyone valuable. That'd be a big win in my opinion. Anything else is gravy.

Yep, need to reward the players who do well in our VFL side, as you say he out played a number of guys who are already on our list, I reckon he at least deserves a rookie spot.

It would be great if we could get Hisham as a rookie, but after the year he had at the Bullants, I seriously doubt he will make it out of the national draft.

After decades of criticism of 'zones' and all the 'evil' advantages they brought to favoured Clubs - they are back with a vengeance- academy this -preferred zones that, multicultural maybe picks the other thing...

yet another AFL rooster up!

When will these morans realise that a level playing field means one draft - open to all Clubs on same terms?

Sean Darcy might be your man - 201cm and 113kg.

Cull a sacred cow for another first rounder.
Lure Marchbank for unders.
Bring in nobody over 23yo.

We don't need to go out of our way to get a gun power forward. We are 12 months removed from drafting McKay, Curnow and Silvagni. They'll pay dividends in 3-4 years.

Buying anything that "helps us now" is folly, if it comes at the expense of long-term talent acquisition.

1 - Keep #5
2 - Keep next years 1st and bring in Marchbank
3 - Bring in one of Hrovat, Honeychurch, or WHE (straight into the best 22)
4 - One of Grigg, Stewart, Pickett, Matera (for depth)

Keep pick 5 (not Ainsworth/Marshall tho)
Get Marchbank with a second round pick or later
Trust in SoS for anything else that falls off the tree during trade period!
