Well it seems that there will be a few names available at the end of the season, come trade time and the PSD. That being the case just wondering what others on this board think should be our main target during this time of the year.

Meesen/Maric/Charman.

If we get Kruezer with pick 1, pick up one of the afore mentioned trio our ruck stocks are set.

I dont think we'd be in the running for a Judd/Pav/Reiwoldt - although i'd love Dal Santo as hed be cheaper than the other big guns

forget charman, good on paper but he's a 24 yr old in a 29 yr olds body

no thanks!

im not lured by the high draft pick meeson who cant get a game at the crows (must be like meyer), id go for Fanning and keep graham.

Id still like the club to take a good hard look at charman and if his body isnt falling apart he'd be handy. Hes a unit, got some mongrel, could make some of the pea hearts stand taller. With Simmo still around his workload wouldnt be huge and by the time simmo is winding down Kruezer would be ready to step into the breach.

hypothetically if we pick up either charman, meesen or maric and also get kruezer with the #1 pick, what happens to patto???? does he get kicked back to coburg or would he keep his place as a third tall in the forward line and maybe do some rucking around the ground??
IMO i would hate to see him go back to coburg. if he keeps up the form that he is in i dont see why he shouldnt keep his spot.

Dal Santo? He's not that good. A sideways player who hasn't really improved over the past year. Not very consistent and doesn't play well in big games enough. I wouldn't give a first round pick for him, never. Second round pick, yes.

Did you watch last week's game over at Subiaco? Can't get much bigger than that.

I still dont understand why we are panicking about ruckmen.

Troy Simmonds is one of the best ruckmen in the league when on song.

Adam Pattisons form this year has been great.

And then we have Trent Knobel and Graham Polak who can all pinch hit in the ruck.

We need a succession plan. In that context I reckon we keep Graham, add Kruezer or Bellchambers and cut Knobel. If Meeson is available we have to then weigh up if he is a better prospect than Graham.

Knobel's 2007 season has been better than his 2006 season.....because he is yet to play:thumbsu:!

Did Chris Judd re-sign? I didn't see his name on the list.

FFS the best player in the league wants to come back to Melbourne. To not entertain the idea of getting him (especially when we are talking about PSD) is pathetic and smacks of the lack of self belief in Tiger supporters right now.

We can get the guy without losing picks. No matter where he ends up he's gonna be on top $ and we are one of the few clubs that can afford to pay fair odds.

Don't be tricked into thinking that top players don't walk in the PSD. If we are gonna wear the spoon we make damn sure we exploit it like North Melbourne did all those years ago with the short lived free agency (or whatever it was).

Don't mistake ruthlessness for irresponsibility.

How is he different to Ron Barassi?

Or Doug Wade?

Or even Nick Stevens?

Or Peter Moore?

Don't be fooled into thinking that only fringe players shaft their clubs. That is not born out by history.

I will stand corrected if some on that list did not 'walk out' on their club, but the point is the same and I could easily add another dozen names to that list without thinking hard.

west coast treat their players very well,

He is their captain,

hes a quality young man with ethics,

theres no chance he would shaft the eagles and give them nothing for the number 1 player in the comp

He would go from being universally admired and respected to being looked at as just another mercenary

wont happen!

Mate I don't want to start a flame war. But I thought my point was valid.

Which of the players I listed weren't quality young men with ethics BEFORE they left?

Plenty of clubs look after their players well and still have guys leave.

I'm not sure if any that I listed were captains, but I can easily put Leigh Colbert up there.

Your point about being a mercenary is true. Didn't stop Hamil or even Nathan Brown just to name a few in recent times.

Just using 'he wouldn't do it' logic is not gonna cut it. Especially when it has happened many times in the past.

Your point has merit but in this case I think Judd is beyond that. I wouldnt group him with brown and Hammill and i certainly wouldnt group the eagles management with the bulldogs and carltons at the time.

Colbert was captain but again he didnt have the added responsibility of being the best player in the competition (clearly!).

Its just my opinion but i think theres buckleys chance of Judd walking

i agree. and even if he does, do we really want him? i want the tigers to develop their own champs! not poach other clubs! viva le deledio!
wouldn't mind dal santo for pick 17, but.

melbourne have a gun draw coming up compared to ours

we have pick 1 in the bag, and the spoon :o

Why would you want the spoon for?
