Q. re. bushfires. I get all the conditions have to be "right" for a fire to get going (or some bastard who lights it himself)- but why does it happen every "so often"? 40 degree weather and I'm assuming- lightning strikes happen all the time...

Why isnt Lorne, etc etc on fire every summer, why just this one?

Can't speak for everywhere but a lot of the surfcoast area they simply don't do burn off's often enough and the undergrowth becomes tinder dry very quickly.
