But Pedersen would play backup ruck, and defence... so he won't necessarily go forward. We won't be giving up high picks for either Dawes or Pedersen, so I think we'll still have 4 and 14 to bring in talented midfielders through the draft. Plus Shannon Byrnes can play through the midfield and Farren Ray is looking like he could come in for a pick in the 40s or 50s perhaps. Rory Taggert hasn't even debuted yet but shows promise as a mid. I'm not sold on either Fitz or Gawn for differernt reasons.
Pedersen would play forward. I dare say he's most comfortable as a player there. It's not as if we need another tall defender.

I can't believe people actually want us to bring in Pedersen, Dawes and Hogan when people were saying our line up was too tall last year as it was.

Stop being blinded by the bright lights and get real, sports fans.

Were you watching our forward 50??

We do have a number of talls on our list... I don't rate many of them, and neither does our list management apparently.

Yeah, and I saw a series of mid sized players and not a crumber in sight.

I don't see how stockpiling all the unwanted talls in the league will do us any good.

Yep, Pedersen will play mainly forward as a Demon. Would rather him with a later pick than Dawes with an earlier one. Then add Hogan if we wish, and mids mids and more mids

Dawes and Pedersen are good players who would improve our structure, and we would get them cheap. They would be in our best 22 for sure. We've got Viney, pick 4 and 14 to use on gun mids, plus Byrnes and possibly Farren Ray. We have a talented group of midfielders already, so there needs to be some balance. Our KP stocks are weak.

We have a severely untalented group of midfielders.
Watts-Martin/Dawes-Byrnes
Blease-Clark-Petterd/Davey

Tell me more about our current group of talented midfielders. I'd say we probably have the worst midfield in the league.

Apart from Jones, our current midfield is putrid !!

On paper, we probably do...but if you get Sylvia, Jones, Trengove, Grimes, Tapscott, Blease, Howe, Taggert and Viney stringing a lot more games together, it suddenly looks a lot better, you then add an O'Rourke/Wines plus a Jackson Macrae or someone else at 14, and its starting to look pretty healthy. Add a Shannon Byrnes and Farren Ray and we've got a bit more run and carry through the midfield as well. We're also in for Dom Barry a pacy wingman from the NT as part of the Hogan deal as well apparently..

I think if you look at our list, we've got 3 good tall defenders and Mitch Clark then it falls away pretty sharply after that. Our Key position stocks are certainly the worst in the competition if you take the two new sides out of the equation.

Frawley, Clark, McDonald and Jamar would all get games in nearly every side. Which of our mids would? Jones probably, and that's it. We need midfield class and lots of it

McDonald only played because we had no one else that could play CHB adequately. To his credit he did a fantastic job, but he would've played VFL at any other Victorian club this year. Jamar is probably past his best.

We can't use all our picks on mids. If we're using 4, 14, and 26 on mids in this draft, I just don't see the big deal if we use later picks on talls who would be an improvement on what we have..

We need a KPF and quality mids.

So would every other player in the world had they not been discovered at some point.

Seriously one of the worst arguments I've heard. Ever heard of Colin Garland? Played CHB for many years.

This is the equivalent of on paper.

These midfielders are shit because they don't play good football.

Fair enough but I don't really agree. Tapscott, Blease, Brynes and Howe aren't really mids. Sylvia plays there at times but is inconsistent. Jones is the only proven, hardened AFL mid in that group, with Jordie Mckenzie, Trengove and Grimes holding their own. Compare it to almost every other side and it doesnt stack up. Our key back stocks are pretty good all things considered. Agree with you on our forward line but I'd rather build the midfield first.

Colin Garland doesn't play CHB, he takes the 3rd tall and sometimes a smaller fwd if the opposition aren't playing tall. Do you actually watch the games?

I was merely saying that McDonald is raw and probably wouldn't have got an opportunity this early in his career elsewhere. He is a quality kid.. Jeezus.

Garland has played CHB, just not 2012.
