Jarrod Berry might be ready to step up from 80-85 to SP status
I was going to take him this year but from memory he had glandular fever during the PS.

Potential breakout premos based on recent form...

Darcy Byrne-Jones- Has pretty much already broken out this year. Would be interested in why. Role change or just improvement
Hugh McCluggage- Close watch on pre season. Still butchers it a little. Plays a little too outside at the moment.
Jordan Dawson if DEF- Watchlist
Hunter Clark if M/D - Definitely worth considering
Bayley Fritsch- No thanks
Jarrod Lienert- No thanks
Anthony McDonald-Tipingwuti if plays more mid time- No thanks
Shai Bolton if plays more mid time- Definite possibility as a forward
Jack Silvagni if plays more mid time- Depends on price
Callum Mills- Started him this year. Has improved in the back half of the year. Traded him out early
Conor McKenna- No thanks
Darcy Parish- Should retain forward status. Will be very tempting
Jy Simpkin- Ditto Parish
Jade Gresham- Ditto Parish

Reckon Bolton, Parish, Simpkin and Gresham could all play as permanent mids next year but retain forward or DPP status. They are the four that interest me the most at this early stage.

Yeah that and the bakers cyst in his knee where he missed a few games kind of put a kibosh on his season, but he still improved on last year. Reckon he would have had a mini-breakout (90-95) this year if all went right. A solid pre-season and 100-105+ 4th year breakout is a distinct possibility for Berry.

DBJ's scores have spiked considerably since Rnd 8 - may jump to a 95 avg.

Current 5 round avg of 107.

Yeah would be curious to know why. Most players break out at around the 21-22 year old mark. He's nearly 24. Late bloomer, or more SC friendly role? I don't know because I haven't watch his games. I picked him up in my draft team though.

A few potential SC studs in there

Unless we get a bunch of obvious picks up forward, I'm close to locking Gresham in

Ryan Burton anyone?

Surely he makes the jump from good > great player soon enough.

Also will probably be starting Heeney for the third year in a row.

I was looking to trade Burton in just before his injury. I'd be surprised if he doesn't step up to full premo next year.

It's only his 4th year.

I think 5th to 7th years is peak breakout.

I don't think Simpkin has a massive ceiling.

If Ahern or LDU somehow get M/F status, I would consider them.

LDU especially is a clean ball user so can regularly ton up from 20-25 touches.

I could be wrong, but I think DBJ played the Small Defender / lockdown role previously, right up until part way through this year where he's been playing more as a rebounding HBF which coincided with Houston moving to the midfield after Rocky was injured.

Doedee, Ward, Mitchell and Devon Smith are the ones i'm most intrigued about. Very interested to see their starting prices and their JLT form.

Aside form that, I liked my strategy heading into this season and if not way more injuries than last year it would have worked out a lot better. Last season I had the luxury of trading out multiple players in form slumps and only copped a poorly timed injury to one premium (Treloar). Williams, Whitfield, Crouch, Ryan, Daniel and Coniglio were all meant to keepers and now I have zero of them for week 1 of the finals. F this game.

One thing I wish I had gone with my gut on however was the M4 and M5 starting position. Rather than go with a bit more value starting Merrett and Sloane, I spent more cash on Coniglio and Martin, with the former failing to last the season and the latter moved on after round 2. Other cheaper players under consideration were Luke Parker, Dayne Zorko and Luke Shuey, all of whom have peformed admirably and been far more durable. Basically, trust the gut on premiums based on their potential and not their starting price (ie. higher doesn't automatically mean better).

He's had a career best SC season so far. 96 average is elite for a predominantly outside player.
I know, I'm still salty from his soft arse burning me last year, same with that arseh*le Darling this year.

Even though he burnt me so badly this year, I'll consider starting Witherden next season IF old man Hodge retires. Hodge takes most of the kick-ins with Rich and is often playing loose down back, with Hodge gone, Witherden should share those duties with Rich and score well (as he does occasionally)

Hodge might play on though
I think Hodge will play on mate.

I will be locking Hayes in at R3 next year

This kid is going to be a star.

Matched it with Jacobs in the SANFL a few weeks ago in only his 4th game back from an ACL.

He will very quickly overtake Lycett as the number 1 ruck at Port.
Even with Hinkley as coach?
