Unless you are Jeff Beck. Then you can also use your whammy bar to your heart's content.

You're calling pinch harmonics "corny"?

What the hell, you are no guitarist.

For what it's worth my axe of choice is a Gibson SG Angus Young Signature, after my idol.

Ok - so I'm feeling old now

With distortion on, just by picking really hard and making sure that your thumb brushes the string as you pick, you should be able to get something.

I don't use the technique much - maybe if a punter asks us to play a Bon Jovi tune.

i was going to retort, but then i read that.

yeah its suprisingly good... it actually has a decenting sounding solid les paul type sound and style just its not a gibson:p... mind you its not one of those $199 ashton starter guitars, i paid around 500 for it so i guess it had to be alright

I own 2 6 string acoustics, a 12 string acoustic
an acoustic bass, a musicman bass (stuart zender from jamiroquai)
and an electric guitar as used by dave navarro in jane's addiction in the 80's

It varies for me. If I'm working that day, on average I'll play maybe 15/20 minutes, but every now and then I manage to sneak in some hour-long sessions. On weekends, though... oh boy, I practice hours on end.

so how long does everyone practise? i try for atleast 10 minutes a day ,but every now and then ill just play for a few hours,

I hardly get time these days.

I play 2 gigs a week on average so the gigs are also my practice.

Learn to harmonise, then practice will become irrelevant. ;)

Your technical skills don't get any better by "harmonising" - whatever you mean by that.

Maybe you mean training your ear to be able to pick up tunes quickly? I am very good at that (after 20 years of gigging) but that takes practice.

Whenever you hear about someone who is a "freak" on the guitar or "naturally gifted", you find out that they practiced a LOT for years. Still practice a lot.

Hendrix never put his guitar down. He used to play it whilst on the toilet!

No but your playing certainly will.

No that has nothing to do with what I was talking about. I'm guessing you're a rock musician? Done the blues/rock thing and the fusion thing and the point I was making was about learning the intervals. Learn the theory, what works upon what.

I agree. Ok?
