Re: Official GVFL thread

Echuca defeated Shepp in the 3rds and Echuca are beating Seymour in the ressies. Jon Solomon reported again.

Anyone else listening to the radio? I wish they'd STFU about JR's 'brilliant' idea.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Hey Boss, hope the drinking session hasnt killed you

Any news on who the new coach will be at the land of meat pies.

Heard a few players may be back from overseas duties.

Any new players the boys are attracting.

Should be an exciting game this weekend and next, good luck to all teams.

Gday HawkeEye. I hear you will be back amongst us in November. Just in time for pre season training by the sounds of it. David Putamorsi has been given the job with all bar one player committing for next year, that being Mark Clayton, who will be a big loss. As for attracting new players, Im pretty sure Puta has already started to talking to new players, but not sure who. I hear a few boys will be returning to the club from overseas and from other clubs, which will be great. Get some depth back to the club.

New pres as well, Boss.

Re: Official GVFL thread

No they have 2 BIG ins though. Warbarton and Bell!

Should be a great game, and hope the swannies can hold that cup high.
Its been a 47 years too long!
What about Seymour?
Schottner?
Looking foward to a great game in the heat of the sun, Im thinking Swans will smash them with Montomery getting BOG. A frustrated Saad to be reported for striking in a spiteful game.
Will finish off a sensational weekend after the CATS pound the power on Sat.
Rochester to wake up from the dream to loose by 37 with Echuca taking home the 2s and 3s beating Seymour by a woping 67.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Well what the flaming heck was he doing last year!!!!
I've been wondering how a team can improve so dramatically in the space of one season - Had a look at Rochy's 1's side last year and they have about 10 players from last years seniors who are playing in the ressies this year. No wonder they're a pretty good outfit and should get over Echuca in the big one. Echuca 3rds to get over the young lions and Seymour to get over Swans after extra time!!!! Should be 3 very close games

10 players in the 2nds may have played seniors last year but only a few would be good enough to go around every week in the ones when you have a bit of depth. I think you'll find as soon as seniors came back from injury they went into 1sts. Hence the 2nds haave had a lot of players play 4-6 games of ones this year.
After being smashed for the last few years every week, its nice to see a few blokes getting a chnace in a GF

Yes, your right there head about a new president. I was just on the phone to him this morning actually.

Bad luck on the grand final loss. Did you get a game and did bomber play?

There will be no extra time in the senior game chance. If its a draw, it will go to a replay the following week.

My tip is Seymour to win with Chewy Scanlon or Luke Stevenson getting BOG.

Interesting to see Puta take the job. He did it in the mid 90s too didn't he?

By my records, he would be 37 now. Is he going to play as well?

Cant find his name in the records as coach. I know he played there but what makes you think he was coach?
Being a past Rochy player (one of your better ones too) I would have thought you would know a bit more about him than you do!
On Rochy have they a coach yet?

Well, as I said I seem to recall him coaching Euroa in the 90s. I haven't followed his career much since he left Rochy. Why would I?

No news on the new coach as far as I'm aware. A couple of rumours that have already been posted on here.

I don't think Puta coached Euroa, but he certainly played there in the late 90s.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Yeah, I knew he played there, but wasn't sure he coached.

I'm pretty sure he has coached somewhere along the way.
Been coaching Tungamah for 3 years.
Should have won the flag the first year when the favorite didnt make the granny.
Was favorite to win last year and didnt.
And like Rochy they well and truly under achieved this year!!!
Im not sure what he can bring to Euroa other than get a few locals back that will stengthen the 2s.

No doubt a few locals will return and Im sure he will bring some new players that will play seniors to the club.

Puta has never coached Euroa and has been coaching Tungamah for the last 3 years. I know he had quite a few injuries up there, hence why they probably under achieved this year. They never got their full strength team on the park at one time.

Fantastic bloke and just what the clubs needs. Early bet is he says hes a non playing coach but wont be able to help himself. he would be a hand ful sitting in a pocket and can remember some of the great celebrations including doing forward somersaults after kicking goals.
As per every team needs to recruit a few to make them more competitive.

The Swannies Express Leaves Brisbane On Tuesday Lunchtime.
Great work Morphous.

I went along and watched a very very good outfit, being the SHepp Swans on the weekend. Two things I enjoyed:-

1 -Looby - looks a gun..impressed by his drive from the back..certainly not too shy to put his words out there during the warm-up. Entertaining.
2 - Marinated chicken steaks with coleslaw...perfect hangover food the day after a big bucks day for "Strauchnie!" at Tocumwal.

Morphous- couldn't get a chance to meet your brother but full credit to him playing in that side. Looks as if I wont be able to get to the GF...keep me a seat on the express just in case!!!

Consider it done and I'll make sure I grab one of those marinated chicken steaks.

Swannies express away!
