Gills kicking is beyond terrible. Despite playing a sensational game, you cannot afford to miss those chances against top 8 teams. The midfield works so hard and uses so much energy to create those chances, and they are just wasted with Gill.. However, atleast hes getting the ball in the first place.

that was not one of thommo's better games. he got a fair bit of it, and was responsible for a fair few of our clearances - however he also burned plenty of it, and wasn't nearly as effective in disposal, or got forward as much as he can.

he wasn't terrible, and you're patronising him to some extent as he is a much better player and capable of a lot more than that.

I'm a bad judge at this kind of thing but I'm just saying in a 10 goal win there were a lot of good players. Thommo may well have been BOG.

Thommo has worked so hard this year it isn't funny.

He will be right up there in the B & F.

The off field indescretion doesn't weigh (IMO) to his aspirations to be the next AFC Captain.

He is an honest bloke. He took it when he had blokes saying he didn't do it.

I want people who are honest leading MY Club. He deserves the Captaincy after Goody.

DT & SC both rated him BOG so he's not alone in his thoughts.

You raise some valid points and 6 months ago i was in the Thommo and Reilly for captaincy brigade.
However since Reilly's injuries he pretty much has no chance.
Thommo is more likely to be VC at this stage - when you've got the support of the Roo for you to be the next captain, i'd say you've got someone who knows what he's talking about so for that reason i think VB will get it next.
Not that i'd be disappointed if Thommo did though

that is not a case. that's all the reasons why you like him, and why you might have closer ties to him than just as a spectator. has nothing to do with todays game.

FWIW he is a great player and will be in the mix for the captaincy you'd think - but that also has nothing to do with his game today.

Thommo was very good, as posted elsewhere got radio votes for BOG so it's not a delusional thought.

It's unfortunate that he had a brain explosion in the car.

He was a shoe-in for the Captaincy before the incident.

Ive been fairly critical of Thommo for a while now, mainly because I think his decision making is average. He gets the ball a lot but sometimes he just blazes away (kick and hope) or handballs to someone under pressure. Having said that, he did a lot of tough bullocking work today I thought and was very valuable. I agree with the 5AA blokes having Thommo, Gill and Symes and the best..... but I'd give to Gill on entertainment value alone! (I forgot to add VB in there too!)

As for the Captaincy...... VB by a country mile.
