Ladder Leaders continue to take, and commit to, bold action.
AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM GUMBIES FFC.
NIL EMBARGO, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.
In season 35, Gumbies FFC engaged in a wide-ranging review to address the issue of their emissions, specifically that the club was responsible for 5 high-emitting wooden spoons and just the one sequestering premiership. The review resulted in a new coach (Qraig Bellamy) and a pledge to start winning finals and premierships to thus become net zero by season 50.
The club is proud to today reaffirm this commitment to net zero by season 50. Recognising the vital importance of qootballing sustainability, the club reiterates its aim and desire to have an equal or greater number of premierships than wooden spoons by season 50. We remain extremely proud of our 36 premiership, those that contributed to that and the progress towards net zero it generated, however we are cognisant that there is much more work to do.
Our Strategy
The club has already integrated a comprehensive set of sustainable practices into its operations, including but not limited to:- Increasing posting numbers in a sustainable way and upgrading existing posters to a more efficient output.
- Launching waste reduction through the upcycle and integration of former Sweet FA users to their rightful place as Sweet FA luminaries. Mop, weltschmerz and Cactus_ for three examples.
- Ramping up recycling programs- the Gumbies have brought back former Gumbanian's DenieD, Jeremias and Bartel in recent seasons.
- A large reduction in straight-set finals exits. The club acknowledges it is rather difficult to win premierships when bowing out of finals so rapidly. Not since season 33 has the club exited finals in straight sets, a streak we seek to continue for a long time.
