Great to see the Old and Young blues playing golf together today.
Especially when the old blues organised it and all of them saying they want to be involved in the club again. Just another step in the right direction. Well done to Fitzpatrick, Southby and co.

Agreed. Some more psitive news to come out of the club. Excellent.

Unfortunately it won't get the same media coverage as Elliott being asked to run a coterie. No headlines to be gained from those who participated in the golf day.

Well done to those who organised the day & it is great to see so many of our past players getting in behind the club. The media will continue to find negatives, but those who support our club passionately, know that there are more positives than negatives happening at MC Labour Park.

Dream on.............

Past players challenged to wash away blues with spirit of old.
Yesterday's event in aid of that Carlton spirit was inspired by Bobby Lowrie, a runner for the Blues in the 70s and 80s, and was not a club function.

Feeling the pain of three wooden spoons in five years, Lowrie recently contacted a plethora of past players suffering similarly to see what could be done.

In Southby's words, Lowrie "challenged us" at a meeting attended by the likes of Robert Walls, Alex Jesaulenko, Jim Buckley, Ken Hunter and David Rhys-Jones. From this gathering came the 'Spirit of Carlton' tag.

"There has always been great spirit at Carlton," said Southby. "It just went a bit dormant. This is our chance to renew it and move forward into the future with these young players."

The past players intend holding similar functions to create a link with the present team, and they are focusing on the future.
Brilliant work by Lowrie. :)

This sort of involvment from past players is long overdue and an important step in getting back to our rightfull position at the top of the ladder. :D

This lack of involvement from some past players might give credence to the argument that a lot of Carlton people felt alienated since Elliott was voted out. ;)
Mike Fitzpatrick, the former premiership captain and present AFL commissioner, has been feeling it, too.

"It's been a painful few years, a very painful few years," said Fitzpatrick.

"For a club that never finished bottom to do it three times in the new century hurts."
Mr AFL has spoken. :thumbsd:

No one of her colleagues. She obviously couldn't bring herself to say anything positive.
