I hope this hasn't already been covered, apologies if it has. But as a note Geelong play Melbourne on Friday night football next week, directly clashing with channel 7 Olympics Opening ceremony. I had a quick look into it and channel 7 in there wisdom are playing our match live into Melbourne (and most capital cities) at 7pm to allow the opening ceremony to comence immediatly after. What I have found mildly interesting is Sydney's opening ceremony begins at 9pm while Melbourne begins at 9:50pm once the cats game is over, leaving 50 minutes of the opening ceremony cut? I still don't understand how channel 7 are so willing to mess with their olympic games coverage but were so unwilling to play last weeks cats V hawks game live because of better homes and gardens??

Anyway, doesn't bother me because the Cats will be live in Friday night football!!

Another note, during the olympic games the next 2 Friday night games after Cats Melbourne will be shown live also. So a big win for footy/sport fans! Watch the Friday night game live, then settle in with a beer in hand to watch the olympics!

Melbourne viewers wont miss any of the OC.

The OC starts at 10pm Melbourne time (8pm in China), yet Sydney viewers get a 1hr intro special whilst Melbourne viewers get the Footy.

The real shit from 7 is the night before when the Olyroos play their first game. They are delaying the game (kick off is 7pm Melb time) until 9pm or later so they can fit in the announcement of the Flag Bearer, which will be announced some time after 9pm.

Yet had they shown the game live, the game would be over by 9pm anyway meaning they can take live coverage of the announcement for as long as they want.

But oh no, can't have the "soccer" take Home & Away off the air now can we? :rolleyes:

Ch 7 should be forbidden for having the rights to any sport, because no matter what it is they do a ****ing awful job.

What would all the 10-15 year olds text each other about if home and away was dumped though! It would be a disaster!
 
As i've said in previous posts it seems to me that Football is no where near the priority it should be on this channel. im sure if they had it all there own way they would've moved the game to 6pm and have it end at 9pm so they could show the crap they're getting in Sydney.
The fact the AFL didnt hesitate to move the game (MELB-GEEL) forward 35 minutes at channel 7's request shows who has the power in that partnership. Channel 7 of course couldn't afford to meet the AFL's request to show HAW-GEEL live though could they.
I think there have been a few issues with the V8's as well haven't there?? I heard they they cut off the end of a live race one day (a Sunday some time last year) to begin their delayed telecast of the footy at 3pm. If i were a V8 fan i'd be absolutely spitting chips.......
