Analysis On-field Mental Toughness

Everything that could go wrong did go wrong in Q3 - if the coaches are smart enough to analyse this - there is a lto of data to work with and fix things pretty fast. That is my positive spin. If it was mainly about structures it is n the coaches if it wa smainly about players not responding - repalce culprits If it was a combination ( which it was ) train a drill - biut not with plauyers who will always let you donw and hit their ceilings years ago waste of time persisting with them.
I dont want to see spuds liek Jordon Roberts allowed to kcik goals fom 55 metes out because they wer eunmarked - ever again and failure to man up allowed Sydney free reign through teh middle for far too long. VOss and co are on thin ice if we see repetes of this again and again...

Mental toughness comes down to On-field leadership, not just from the captain but on each line, it looked like a herd mentality took over at half time, not just in this game but last year too.
Cripps was looked for and wasn’t able to organise or deliver.
I’ve seen this before when a player ie Walsh is seen as a defacto leader to the younger playing group and the seniors sticking with the old guard, it’s not deliberate it’s a natural progression, the club needs to recognise this and fast.
Thank Cripps for all his efforts and move the captaincy on, refresh the line leadership and drill accordingly. Unfortunately the coach has leaned into the old guard.
My only hope is CD and GW see this and step in.
If they don’t I will retire in the next couple of years and can give them plenty of unsolicited advice from the second row of whichever stadium we are playing at.
Walsh and Weiters are VC's, they can step in whenever they feel like. In fact, any player with half a working brain cell could see that Gulden and Co were running riot and could have called the mids in at centre bounce and said "Oi, WTF is going in here boys? This is unacceptable" They dont need to sit back and wait for Cripps or get his permission to speak. Leadership and initiative can take many forms, however nothing beats 1. Recognising and owning a problem 2. Doing something about it immediately without anyone telling you to.

How often do we see senior & regular players directing teammates, constantly helping one another by voice & guidance to set up properly with our own structure positioning and setups, leading by example…

Not only by our own structures & game plan but how the opposition is actually setting up or organizing ways in outnumbering in particular areas to their advantage…

Worrying thing its kind of been a problem for a while.

I would love this club to play and act with a chip on its shoulder, which I really think exists.

I don't like to draw comparisons to clubs from other sports (and I'm biased here) but I would love an "us against the world" siege mentality in this club ala Mourinho's first Chelsea stint and to introduce some edge. Being submissive to the AFL since the cap cheating hasn't helped and I can't see us being kicked while we're down ever ending at this rate.
