Don't most players in the AFL these days attempt to grab an arm in a tackle to eliminate the chance of a clean disposal by hand and earn themselves a free kick? Seems ridiculous that they would highlight one player for a tactic which is becoming more and more common in the game. The fact that they have then spun it to be the same thing as what Judd did on the weekend is just downright ridiculous and just makes them look even more clueless than I gave them credit for. It's a strange love affair the media seems to have with Judd though I must say and I'm not surprised they are doing all they can to try and help support his case

The difference is, you'll see people grab someone else by the arm when they're on their feet and in possession of the ball. In Judds case, the player didn't appear to have the ball, someone else was on top of him and there was zero point in doing what he actually did.

This just in - Chris Judd has been cleared by the MRP as not having a case to answer. They are convinced Judd was simply trying to help his opponent to his feet while Adams twisted the rest of his body to try and put Judd off balance. When we played West Coast earlier in the season, he didn't understand what we were bitching about in regards to the "ducking" issue. Apparently all the free kicks were there in that game, and we needed to change our tackling technique; tackle lower, grab the arms! Now we're chicken wingers.

Didn't see the show last night, haven't watched it in years as I don't have Foxtel anymore.

I remember a couple of years ago they were talking about banning the chicken wing due to fear of injuries. Rioli was highlighted then as being very good at the technique, pretty sure there were one or two incidents where the opponent may have been a bit sore after the tackle and they used them as examples.

But to compare pulling someones arm during a tackle to stop them disposing of the ball correctly to Judd walking up to a guy face down on the ground that one of his team mates is sitting on and yanking his arm back like he is performing a submission move is a joke.

I used to like OTC about 4-5 years ago but it's like the media are upset they all predicted a hawthorn dynasty at the end of 08 and we failed to live up to their prediction and made them look stupid. Sorry Gents you make yourselves look stupid every week without our help

I'd hardly call it joined in the Carrazzo tackle, but he does approach the two players as Carrazzo is taking Adams to ground. His action once Adams hits the ground though is where he grabs Adams arm and gives it a tweak. His intent, to me at least, looks like he just wanted to grab the arm, not actually play a part in a 'proper' tackle.

Will be very interesting to see what the result is, but this action can not be compared to Rioli's when Cyril is the instigator of a tackle, whereas Judd is just looking for a way to hurt his opponent, after Carrazzo completes a very good tackle.

I don't see a lot of difference between the two, I think Judd should have let go sooner than he did though. Media is blowing this out of proportion.
