I am going to highlight the 'one defining moment' where we lost the game, dont get me wrong we were pretty ordinary all night and only Sydney's poor kicking kept us in it. Toward the end of the 3rd quarter and about 10mins into the final qtr, we had managed to claw our way back to within a couple of kicks. We had finally worked out that Mooney was the go to man - he was the one to win the game for us. One out on Leo Barry was a dream match for Moons. Anyway, ball comes out of centre and we get the ball to half fwd line where Charlie gets it and had space and bombs it toward our goal, but misses the goal square by 30metres, swans rebound, hit a couple of running players down the field and they end up scoring a goal. What could have been a mark and goal to Mooney, ended up being a 12pt turn around for the swans, I believe that moment was the straw that really broke our backs. We didn't recover from that moment, we had all the momentum and the run was going our way. (By the way I am not blaming CG for the loss {even though he was up to his usual standard} but he just happened to be in control of the ball at that point) Thoughts?

I am !

his modus operandi seems to be:

1. mark the ball
2. hang on to it until called to play on
3. kick to opposition, not even to a contest.

Another one: Geelong gets to within 2 goals of Sydney in the last quarter. The ball spills to the pocket and Leo Barry "fubmles" the ball about 3 metres over the boundary line. Far less obvious incidents have been paid deliberate this year. Swans take the ball down the other end and kick a goal. Then another. Game over.

Not saying this was the reason we lost the game - we were cr@p for too much of the game. But things might have been different...

pfft good call ... id much rather have Nathan Ablett or Tom Lonergan standing flat footed inside fwd 50 than Charlie Gardiner actually trying to present himself and do something - he is not blessed with Jonathan Brown like-abilities, however he has a dip - stop carrying on about him - u guys are a joke!

he is definitly not the sole reason we lost - try blaming our midfielders for $h!t house delivery into the forward 50 when they actually got hold of the footy in the centre

As Malcom Blight said. "That's a good example of weak little hands."

No point presenting if you can't take a mark and if you do you turn it over anyways. He is a joke and should have been dumped at the end of last year.

CG MO 2

50/50 contest for a loose ball - go to ground, ball spills free - turnover

Presenting and dropping the mark is better than not presenting at all ... there is a reason Charlie was promoted this week and its the opposite to the reason why Ablett and Lonergan are playing VFL - cause he actually gives a target (not always a good one - i grant u that) - but he's light years ahead of both Nath and 'Loners'

Sydney dominating, but failing to kick goals in the second quarter. Only about 5 minutes to go in the quarter and Scarlett runs the ball out of defence with a lose man heading towards the wing. Scarlett kicks it straight to the opposition and they kick a goal. Two more are added before half time.

Although there were numurous mistakes that cost us goals. Hunt has now had two shockers in a row.

Totally agree i actually started counting how many times Gardiner fell over, i got a total of 6 times. And they were all ones where he could and should have kept his feet.

if Nath or Loners were in the team we wouldnt have got it insde the 50 cause they never make searching leads, they sit their fat a$$e$ inside 50 at dont give us anything - at least Charlie got a few intoFWD50's for us

he did seem to be the only one making leads down the wing, when our players were held up with a pained look on their face, because no one was presenting.

and hunt has now had 3 shockers in a row, he's turning into a liability, tho wasnt as bad against the swans. he actually started to use those tree trunk legs and run a bit out of defence and break some tackles.
