Was just thinking about this, but how One Dimensional is our midfield. Stanton, Watson, Peverill, Heffernan, JJ, Winderlich and Dyson are only midfielders. They can not really play any other position. Compare that to other midfields who have players that can be pushed either forward or back to have a rest instead of going to the bench.
The problem with this is that guys like McVeigh (to a lesser extent), Lovett, Monfries, Slattery and Welsh cant get a run in the midfield because they are needed in other spots around the ground. I know I've been a fan of Pev, and especially Heffernan in other threads, but it might be beneficial for the team to drop at least Heffernan and give guys like Monfries and Lovett more of a go in the midfield. From What ive seen, Lonergan is someone who can play in different positions, so maybe he can have a go.
Stanton, Watson, Winderlich and Dyson should be taught ATLEAST how to sit in the forward line and make a lead, or to take up space as a free man in the D50. Midfield rotation should be around to different spots on the ground, not to and from the bench. This is where we can improve dramatically IMO.
