Well, I went to the Daintree for the weekend and missed all the weekends footy - did not realise there is no foxtel in a wilderness lodge.
anyhow, a couple of weeks back I posted a note which suggested how we might do in the next 5 weeks.
So far,
Brisbane -we won
Port -we lost
The other 3, roos, tigers, and hawks drew a fair bit of debate.
On our performances in the last two games, and more importantly, the form of those three teams I now think we should
roos -win -apparently they were pretty bad the last four weeks.
tigers -win....if we can't beat them the way they are going right now, we never will! and we need to crack one away from home soon.
hawks -probably the biggest test of the three, but should be a win.
A look at the current table shows most teams are not far apart, but in recent times we have been beaten by three teams currently above us on the ladder. The three teams we play next are all below us on the ladder, and so on recent form (always a difficult prospect) it appears we should be well placed to go 6:3 by the end of round 9. If we can do that, we will be in the eight.
The coaching staff and the team have to maintain the momentum this week, and simply forget what happened at footy park.

Roos: win, i think they are clutching at straws currently. They should start rebuilding now, rather than wait another season and end up like us in 2000+2001.

Richmond: win, They are really struggling. A loss to Sydney would destroy their confidence.

Hawthorn: loss, they have finally hit form and will be a very hard opponent to knock off. Luckily they don't have any short forwards to trouble us, so a win is a possibility.

5-4 after 9rds looks like a realistic expectation.

If we pick up another win from that lot we'll be where I thought we'd be, namely, two wins from the five. Wouldn't have a clue though. Like to think we could win another two, but really our hopes are riding on Gardy's hamstring.

PS: Isn't the Daintree a great part of the world.

I will only focus on the next match out of respect for the next opponent.

North will come out fighting guaranteed. It will be a big test and I hope we are up to it. Certainly no gimme. If we can maintain the intensity we've showed in the first 3 home games, we can definitely win.

Roos: Win
Tigers: Win (our first win away)
Hawks: Loss

5-4 after 9 rounds and teetering on the eight....

Lets just concentrate on the Roos for now...were getting ahead of ourselves which is a bad thing to do.

One little thing though...Richardson is out with a hammy? How long for, will he play against us?

From a neutral perspective, this is what i think:

Kangaroos: 60/40 chance of winning losing. - These odds would improve considerably if Gardiner was playing.

Richmond: 45/55 - Richmond will have to bounce back sooner or later and this is the game I think they'll do it in. They will be confident because they really play well against the Eagles in Melbourne at night.

Hawthorn: 45/55 - Hawks have recaptured form but it will be a close game. If you guys play well, you guys should have a good chance of winning. Hawthorn are a very hot and cold team.

I'd expect the eagles to win 1 or 2 of them, but all 3 games are definately winnable.

We are playing Richmond at the MCG - in the daytime for a change - which is one reason I think we will win.

I think yours is a very realistic assessment Kenny. I tend to agree with you: probably 1 or 2 but all 3 winnable.

Haven't all our games this season been played in the afternoon so far?

I did not realise that. I saw WCvs Richmond @MGC and automatically put it down to a night game....
