Hi, quick question - feel free to move mods if this isn't the in correct section.

Basically, a family member has ordered a pair of Nike boots from a US Online sports store. Those who are familiar with football/soccer boots would know that they usually produce a 'replica' type model, with inferior materials at a cheaper price. They've sent the replica model (and apprently intentionally) under the guise of the authentic top of the line model.

Been trying to email them, getting no reply. Trying to plan the course of action from here. Just wondering if anybody had experience with this? I've had a look at some buyer protection info online, it seems USA authorities deal primarily with US citizens. Is the credit/debit card issuer the first point of contact to see if they can reverse the transaction if this mob continue playing the silent game?

Any ideas?

Contact your bank and lodge a dispute, they will investigate the situation. 99% of the time they will credit your account back the money for internet transactions especially if you use your card to make it.

The online store doesnt have a phone number? Sounds like an Asian based one using a US address to flog off fakes. Im gonna guess the boots were selling at a massively discounted price for what they would normally be.

This is, in my opinion, quite an easy trap to fall for! I almost did when I found some 'Australian' website that sold cheap name brand polos.

Realistically there is nothing you can do that won't cost more than the cheap boots did anyway.

Link to the store & the boots he bought?

If they are asian knock offs they wouldn't even be replica quality.

Try to buy through established sites, like Amazon, EBay etc.

Try to use Paypal as much as possible

Make sure you read the FAQ's

Remember, if the deal is too good to be true, beware.

Finally go back to your back, they will follow through, and in most occasions they will get your money back. I have had to do this once, and my bank was very helpful, plus they are very knowledgeable about many internet scams and scam sites.

had my bank account hacked this week and all my money cleaned out......have lodged a dispute with the bank and cancelled my cards

Did you accidentally download a key stroke virus or trojan or whatever the hell it is called?
