How did Clark and S Selwood go?I just left training, quite low intensity as you may expect. Most pleasing , I counted 40 players on the track, until Nathan Vardy left the track complaining of a sore foot and Whylie Buzza ran laps alone.
Scott was out there but I didn't see a lot of him during the main part. He stayed on after and some extra running and drills while most of the others were signing. How did Clark and S Selwood go?
A couple of thought on the training:
McCarthy was training with a group of VFL players. Injury related? I don't know it was contact work so that would seem weird. Maybe they were just assigned there at that point.
Bates training in forward group with hawk, Clark, cockatoo and others. He got a fair bit of the ball. Fumbled a few times but got in good spots competed well.
Delaney in main training his strong and is obviously an afl ready player. I'd written him off when he got injured earlier this year. We know he's played some senior games for north. And he looked good in the VFL last year. How many games does he need to play to keep him on the rookie list?
Buzza running laps obviously not ready for full training yet. It was noticeable how big he is his arms looked bigger than pre season. He is one to watch. Is already afl size and has good aggression. Wells is apparently a massive fan and they have loved his attitude since coming to the club. He will take time but I wouldn't be surprised if he become an afl player.
One of drills was delivering the ball into the f50 and trying to score. They were matched up but it was interesting they struggled to one a target. It's training so I expected to just hit a target and get a goal. Cockatoo found ways to get the ball all through this and have a lot of shots on goal. Hawkins and Clark were big targets. Hawkins even half attempted a specky on someone's back. As said above Bates was also involved heavily in this. Not as clean as cocky but also got a lot of the ball. Cockatoo looked very good though. And he was making jokes on the boundary while signing autographs. Having happy personalities in the group is always needed.
Scott came to the boundary signed autographs and chatted to the fans. He is a great face for the club. Handles media very well and he's interested and engaged with the fans.
I think we'd keep Parsons and Cornell while Bates has to come off the Rookie list (this is his third and final year).Delaney in main training his strong and is obviously an afl ready player.
