Operation Get Ablett

Was wanting to get him this week and unfortunantly he scored too high for me to afford him. But i can save roughly 260k i think by Getting Boomer. Obviously Ablett will score more and is a much better captain choice but that extra 260k means i can upgrade Simmonds to Sandilands for only one trade instead of 2.

very interesting opions in here on the ablett front.

I think that if your aiming at winning your league having ablett is an absloute must!
you will at some stage in finals come up against a team with ablett as captain and no matter how good your team is, ablett can put 160 - 220 on the board double that as captain and game over!
If your going for overall rank you can get away with cooney, goodes, thompson that are all having massive impact with 140+ scores. Then spend the extra cash else where eg, simmond to white/sandi.

Personally i aim ranked 880th but aiming for my league win, have 8 trades left with 340K in the bank.
Mcloud falling has been ok for me im taking a punt and straight swapping Ibbo for macca.

Then doing Palmer to Ablett.

I just see it as too big a risk if the aim is league victory
What you guys think?

Also interested in what you guys think is the right price to pay for Ablett?

I don't know if anyone else here played fantasy premier league, but for the last 2 years Ronaldo has started off as one of the most expensive players and just gone up from there. He was the default captain choice for almost everyone, unless you had a player up against Derby. Averaging a goal a game he was super consistent scored 22% higher than 2nd place (Fabregas).

My longwinded analogy is basically that Ablett is just going to keep averaging high and going up in price, and those that don't have him will be left behind.

I came here hoping someone would talk me out of getting Ablett and paying 740 big ones! hasn't worked. I have lost 2 games all year against teams I feel I am better than except for them having Ablett as captain, he has had two monsters against me and I've gone down by 100 points or less in both games, point is it's almost like getting him is an insurance policy come finals time in my league as getting him basically cancels his score out. Oh the stress of it all!

the problem u have is houli is a midfielder...

you need to do a downgrade of some cash cow (like tippett) and do it as a double move...ie get rid of junk (yes u tippett) while making money to upgrade ablett

i can't see you getting ablett unless you get rid of johnstone

do you see a difference between johnstone, houli and palmer...

but yeh..it's risky as your last link in forwardline is abit weak

i think stevens is better than johnstone (but I know u love johnstone so I won't persuade you otherwise)....

Made 3 trades to do it (Downgrading of Tippett/Gamble/Armitage) but worth it imo (Morton has been good as an EMG for Bradshaw too).

All too easy to say with the benefit of hindsight.

He wasn't posting astonomical scores every week last year and this level of scoring is almost unheard of at Supercoach level. To imply that it was almost expected is a bit unrealistic.

I'm winning my league without him.
