One of the Sun's guys (and maybe Quigley) mentioned Charlie Dixon from the Gold Coast might get delisted at the end of the season and with so much talk about getting our hands on Tippett would Dixon be a better get for us? He seemed to be going pretty well last year (haven't seen many Suns games this year) and I'm pretty sure he was pinch hitting in the ruck.

Would he be a better fit for us then Tippett?

another operation thread?

Is he really any good? Didn't impress me all that much in what I saw of him last year.

Dixon might be an option for us but he'd be a pretty poor consolation prize if the club has its eyes on Tippett.

I'd give Dixon a 50/50 chance of having a successful senior career. At (almost) 22, I'd be interested to see how much more development is in him.

Said it in the other thread but if it is an option I'd prefer a Dixon and Beams bundle than Tippett. The reason I bundle them together is they'd probably cost about the same coin combined and getting Tippett would surely rule out making a play for Beams, who I think would have more impact on our team.

OTOH if we do snag KT then I prob wouldn't bother trying for Dixon.

Granted, Dixon is nowhere near the forward yet that Kurt is, but I think KT's goal kicking is a fatal flaw and he's slightly older than ideal while I am reasonably confident Dixon can develop into a serviceable fwd/ruck.

Maybe whoever is responsible for helping to improve Clark, Retzy and Sauce's goal-kicking could have a crack at Tippett as well?

Why would the suns delist him?

Would much rather Tippett than Beams personally. I think we have Zorko to fill the Beams role, at the moment we have our best defender filling the Tippett role.

Can we get an Operation Get Beams thread going?

Might as well.

;)

One doesn't exist? That's ridiculous. We just need one bit of gossip about it in the media...

Would probably be a good reserves player, but not sure he'd make it in the seniors. He's not getting a game at GC??

Retzlaff, Lisle & Ace are probably all as likely to make it (if not more) as Dixon.

He'll be getting a game for sure. He did a bit of a Jono Brown and got his face caved in during a ruck contest against GWS in round... 5 I think. Played his return game in the NEAFL before the bye, and hopefully back into the seniors soon.

Yeah, the club has already said it needs to build depth in the ruck/forward position so one or the other would be ideal in that regard. I don't see much point in us drafting a 18yo for this purpose - we need someone "ready to go" as a second ruck.

I do wonder if Merrett's form as a forward is changing the view slightly. I still think we'd be better of in 2013 with Merrett playing defence but if he can produce a few more games like last week then we may have the depth in the ruck/forward role that we require.

The other unknown is Moose - where he is at in the eyes of the club will be hugely determinative of what strategy we adopt in trade week and on draft day.

I would never have predicted that the club would trade for Lisle in last years trade week, not play him at all during the year and then trade for anjother similar player. I reckon he will be given a crack in the next few weeks and the decision made after a few weeks demonstration of form.
