It became bleedingly obvipus last night that we need a big key forward if Harvey is not going to play Pav up front.
I was in the Worsfold Room last night and the word from people in there was that we were actively chasing Mitch Clark for next year.
I had already heard that our recruiters were told to find a big key forward somewhere in Australia.
So would Clark be a good fit for us and what would get him to us?
If not Clark , then who else should we be chasing?
No Gumbleton please, as he appears to have a body that is not made ofr footy.

We have a tall forward he is called Pavlich. What is bleedingly obvious is that our coaching staff have no brains.

True as this may be, Pav will be 30 at the start of next season, and as amazing as he is, he's not going to play forever. Clark will be what - 24? Same draft as Kennedy and Ryder IIRC - a good age at which to get a KPP...

True, but we have a couple of years, hopefully, to develop a young guy we recruit. Clark has indicated he wants to stay at Brisbane for family reason. Besides Clark plays his best football in the ruck. We are ok there for a while.

Have u not seen our gameplan?
It revolves around fast break offence, creating space in the forward line.
If we wanted to use big marking forwards in that plan.
Pav would spend majority at CHF with freedom to push into midfield at times.
An Anthony/Keps/resting ruck would be at FF coming out of the goal square.

But our stupid gameplan doesnt need those players so unless they plan on changing it getting Clark would be an absolute waste especially with what it will cost to get him.

I'd be very, very surprised if Mitchy hasn't already signed with GWS. Otherwise he'll probably stay in Brissy as a majority of his family and his missus' family are there.

I agree that we need a better forward set up, but prior to this we need some bigger bodied, skillful inside mids who work hard enough to spread and provide support once the clearance is won, so that we can actually get the pill into the forwardline.

the rumour going around is the mitch has sooked ever since he lost the number 1 ruck spot. he sees himself as a ruck and doesnt enjoy playing forward.... if thats the case, why would he come to freo when he would clearly be behind sandi?

Exactly. He wants to be a ruckman. Not to mention the fact he reportedly wants 400k+ p/yr.

How is he any more impressive than Kepler Bradley?

If we really wanted a key forward, we could have gotten one with our first pick in the draft last year.

And we would have been reaching, which is not what you do with a first round pick. All this talk about getting midfielders clay and now you want a forward? Make up your mind woman.

How'd he go up forward for us last night?

Apart from the fact that it was an terrible night for tall forwards last night, that has not been our structure all season, so you can't just turn it on and off like a tap. I would like to see our structure settled down a little in a way that is sustainable in the future. And that doesn't mean Pav in the middle and Mayne at full forward.

Lol yeah we would have been reaching if we picked Darling
What has he done so far? He plays on the opposition 4th best defender. Wow, that's a challenge! A ready made player, like Leigh Brown, you cannot judge until further down the track. Some can go on to star, but others get stuck at the same level they started.
