I’m glad our players recognised what a bad state he was in and didn’t test him out as the commentators were urging, it could’ve ended really badly if they did.

This many times over.

The fact that our players didn’t ’test him out’ once again reflects well on the culture at our club, and a kind of maturing in football. Players looking out for each other, despite the colours of their jumpers, is a wonderful thing to see.

Imagine if McCreery had lined him up? Or Maynard?

But they didn’t, and this care - or whatever it was - on the field is so much better than the thuggish behaviour of old.

I know the dinosaurs will say - as some commentators did - that if he’s on the field he should be treated the same as everyone else. And maybe in a win at all costs Grand Final Petracca’s condition would have been exploited. But it wasn’t, and we didn’t, and you love to see it.

Hope he recovers well , solid young man both on and off the field. Imo Gawn needs to accept his actions were one of the reasons Petraccca was injured so seriously ,push Cameron in the back into Petracca ,giving him no room for movement upon impact.

Sadly, not surprising given how poorly we are serviced by commentators. Far out, it would be amasing to hear professionals like US or UK sports instead of an endless barrage from former players

I can't imagine being at the bottom of the odd pack when he came back on helped at all. We'll never know but it wouldn't be a surprise if returning to the field - even just the aerobic activity - worsened the situation substantially.

Melbourne and the AFL saying what they need to say but I think the majority of us watching couldn't believe he was back out there in the 2nd - neither could half our team and thankfully we didn't put a target on him.

I know he said he wanted to go back on, but he should have been overruled.

Even when he went back on, you could see at the 1st contest he was in serious trouble. They could have pulled him off then, however, chose to keep him going. I would expect his parents to be fuming at the club.

It was lucky Petracca could barely get near the play otherwise things could have been even worse. Hope he makes a speedy and full recovery.

He's out of contract and a UFA as he's previously been delisted - I think. He's a star and will be fielding some pretty large offers.
