Was reading an article about Zaine Cordy and was wondering what our backline will look like without Murphy, Moyd, and Morris:

FB: Wood Talia Johannisen
HB Z.Cordy Roberts Webb
INT: Hamling/Biggs

While Murph is irreplaceable there is a bit of run there, as well as some flexibility, and height.

Positives : Wood is AA, JJ's speed, Hamling and Cordy are flexible, and Roberts can go forward.

Negatives : not convinced Talia can make it, JJ will cop tags, and still no big back to tackle the monster forwards.

Omissions : Roughie - never thought he would make it down back and I think Bev will go for flexibility and speed over size. There's room for another small in there too, but not sure who. Still don't think Prudden will make it, Fuller probably won't be there either, and Pearce is on the cusp of be delisted and currently playing forward.

Currently I'd have

Wood, Roberts, Hamling
Biggs, Talia, JJ

Webb rotating through their and its possible Z.Cordy solidifies a KPP spot.

I think we give those 4 (Roberts, Hamling, Talia, Z.Cordy and hopefully a traded in option) full opportunity until the end of 2017. Then we decide whether its good enough to get us a premiership or not.

Biggs, Roberts, Cordy
Wood, Hamling/<Trade CHB>, JJ

Talia provides depth in the back half, Hammers and Cordy can play tallish or shorter however we may need a second legitimate CHB to play on teams that have two monster KPFs.

Webb rotates through the back half but I expect he will (like JJ) spend some time in the middle/wing. Prudden can also rotate through if need be.

Top four teams tend to bat pretty deep - 30 or so AFL standard players plus developing types so we need to plan for 8-10 defenders who are AFL ready who can do the job.

That's my take which is a little disappointing. Jut hasn't come on like we'd hoped. His brother looked very handy last night...
