what do you think of our chances this season?

personally i believe if we get it right we can go all the way

Seems to be the sort of thread that keeps getting regurgitated one way or another . However , I think the general blues population is at best only hopeful of making the finals this year . Goin all the way would be a dream come true and very welcome of course but high expectations can lead to major dissappointment . My advice would be to take it one step at a time and see how we look after a few wins are on the board , simply enjoy the beginning of the great blue revival .

My advice to you would be to stop creating this sort of thred. Saw those you started on Bay 13 and not sure what you are trying to achieve. Sounds like it's too hot to play outside today?

I think your FAR more likely to win the wooden spoon than the main season comp. You have a very good midfield, but I am guessing all it would take is an injury to Judd to bring that group back to average. Your forward line relies on Fevola, but otherwise also seems poor/average with some sporadic talent sprinkled around. Your backline I rate as one of the worst in the comp...but will take the general sledging responses as guidance on this. You also lack a genuine ruckman until Kruezer is ready for that spot.

There is no doubt your team could get on a roll and run off quite a few wins in a row if your Mid's stay healthy as they will be gifting your forwards regularly. But I doubt you will be consistent across the season.

My tip is this year you will probably be in a dog fight for the 7-12th spot.

Yeh, this thread has basically just been reworded many times.
If we make finals, i'll be delighted. If we finish between 11-9 i'll be happy and anything less unhappy.
If we have a good run with injuries i think that we are a fair chance at making the finals.

My prediction is that we'll finish somewhere between 11th to 13th. That's a realistic goal and we'd be happy with that result I imagine. Just a stepping stone to a brighter future.

From a Hawthorn perspective remember that most of us were expecting a finish between 8-12th... and look at the year we had.

Thanks Kirbatron . Anything above 8 - 12 would've been viewed as a bonus I guess. Be pleased if our team have similar success this year to the hawks of last year .

7-8 wins would be a start, but I think most of us think that this was about the pass mark for last season. Add Judd and anotyher pre-season into Murph, Gibbs, etc and I think we should be aiming higher.

8-10 as the pass mark, 12-13 as a good year and on the verge of finals, and 14+ as exceptional, given that that would be more than the last three seasons combined.

Sums it up pretty well BlueBear . Even if Judd should , god forbid , succumb to injury , we still have a very good midfield in the making . Judd adds a whole new dimension to our game plan but without him the mids are still better than average IMO . They will prove themselves come march 20 .
