Our Defence needs help??

What has happened to Jason Cloke? He was on fire a couple of years ago down back and was amongst our best defenders. Why can't he play the same role? Do we need to recruit a star defender next season? Who?

Because he was found out, basically.
He's great as a loose defender, but clubs woke up to him and made him accountable to an opponent. It stuffed him. Because he's too slow and short to play as a key defender.

As for "do we need a star defender next season?"
Our midfield is more of a concern than our backline, IMHO. We should be concentrating more on that.

Our defence is the last thing we need to be worried about. Clement, Wakelin and Presti have been very solid this year (not so much against the roos)
As for Cloke I don't see how he'll ever be able to play a floating position again

I totally agree with your opinion about the midfield, its a bit of a catch 22 situation, if we had stronger midfielders the ball wouldnt spend too much time down back, but keeping the oppostion's scoring limited can go a long way to winning. Or maybe I should stick to reading threads instead of trying to start one.

It's not a Catch 22 at all. If we had stronger midfielders that kept the ball out of the opposition back fifty, that's not a bad thing at all, even if it means Wakelin and Clement are getting only four or five touches a game.

Umm, Maxwell played the loose man last week and sucked, Clement did it the week before well. So why cant Jase do it? They are letting us get away with it this year so he should come in this week ahead of maxwell who was terrible last week

Maxwell deserves a spot in the backline ahead of J Cloke. If his form drops off, Jason will get his chance.
