Though our Defence tonight was fantastic as it has been for a while.Rance Gun..but Batchelor and especially Grimes are very good.Vlastuin was good and Houli just keeps getting better..our Defence is our strength at the moment..

Houli and chappy were so and so last night chappy went to the ground softly and houli just doesn't go hard enough at it cost us 2 goals. I think batchelor and grimes have come along nicely in particular Grimes his getting back to to top solid form.

You might want to check out some other teams around us as well. I dont think we are especially stingey. We are doing what is required. But we are playing a more defensive style play, and its affecting our scoring.

I cant cop this. I saw Houli put his body on the line plenty last night. He is an absolute jet.

Was it a tight contest low scoring? Did he or did he not give 2 goals away cheaply with his turnovers? My observation m8 maybe i was watching a different game to you.

You might want to check out some other teams around us as well. I dont think we are especially stingey. We are doing what is required. But we are playing a more defensive style play, and its affecting our scoring.

I would rather affect our scoring then losing games

Our defence is working as a unit that has now played some footy together and the improvement shows, it also helps that our entire team is working hard both ways and the defence has plenty of help, also some decent options to hit up coming out as well.
Rance had a battle on his hands last night but his run, judgement and courage was there for all to see.
Grimes is now injury free and is showing why he is so highly rated, gutsy and versatile.
Chaplin, thought he battled hard against bigger forwards and we do play better as a unit when he's there.
Batchelor, pleased for him, he now has played over 60 games and is turning into a reliable defender.
Vlaustin is a bit unsung on here, I thought everything he did last night had a touch of real quality, will get better and better.
Houli, people can't be still calling him soft and a liability! Check his last qtr again as he was as responsible for our win as anyone else, gun.

Our defence has been by far our best area of the ground for a while now, and it has been keeping us in games where the midfirld and forward line have been beaten.

Yeah - that was very weak, reminded me of a recent Aust of the Year.... but we are not allowed to say that are we?

Chappy looks good when he is not on a man, when he is, far too often is easily knocked off the ball or on to the ground.

Agree with most of this ...except Houli And Chaplin..thought they were good and have been for weeks..Chaplin is not given enough credit.. our dfence suffers when he is not there..overall our dfence is one of the best..

Agree with this....been saying this for a while that Batchelor and Grimes are goin to be permantly part of our back 6...as for Astbury he is not best 22 and only is a good ordinary player

I wouldn't say this at all, we're definitely getting offensive opportunities, just not finishing our work

It's basically because Rance is there. He is that good

Our backs work well together, especially considering I feel we have many deficiencies down there.

Batch/Grimes/Vlas can struggle on taller/smaller opponents when theres not 3 mediums to play on.
Chappy struggles on opposition players but drops back very well and stops alot of goals.
Rance cant jump and Houli isnt a great defender.

I still feel we need Astbury down there to take the high marking option, they had too many contested marks that shouldnt have happened in such congested situations.

Just seen Matthew lloyd best team of the week...Rance is not in the backline at all ..is he for real has Hurley there ..while he is good Rance is by far the best defender around Lloyd bias on footy show again..
