Hasn't been functioning properly this year, with Pav the lone hand up there. Is there anyone on our list who could seriously make a difference? I think not drafting a KPF in the 09-10 drafts has come back to bite us big time, interested to see what you all think. Is it time to throw McPharlin forward and silvagni back? Will Kepler be able to recover and go back to being his old self? Or will Mora be our saviour?

Reality is last year the forward line had more overall class but was less predictable. The best key forward for about 10 weeks was either Bradley or Silvagni, while Mayne, Ballas and Walters were available most weeks and in good form. Opposition defenders had real trouble with that, and while the side wasn't high scoring, it rarely got hurt on the counter attack.

Last night the only forward in any good form was Pav.

That's basically it. Have gone from having unpredictable forward entries with three dangerous forwards to the opposite with one.

I'm confident with ballas and Barlow(maybe 2 wks)returning next week our forward line will start performing better than it is at present.

Barlow loves drifting forward and kicking goals.

Maybe silvangi to take a spot in defence so McPharlin can play up forward. At least that would give us two genuine targets up front, plus ballaz back in gives us a decent forward line and doesn't sacrifice our back line too badly.

Too risky against the eagles talls. Macca is the best in the business

We have a similar issue. I think the biggest issue (for both our sides) is the bloke who you took from us. Gumbleton would add a lot to both forward line's, but anyway, hope you fix it (with him) and get to the last Saturday in September and see Gumby lifting the cup

It would be interesting to see if RTB really DOES read this board and if so, then what and how much does he read? - myself I'm a little sceptical.

IMO, If he DOES read it, it would only be to access certain information he could not otherwise get (IE first-hand accounts of player performance in the WAFL, or third party observations of training). At the tactical level we'd be a bust. While we are all pretty well informed on the abilities of individual team members and collectively have a pretty good footy IQ, at the end of the day (when compared to his brains trust), we're for the most part amateur armchair experts and analysts with a host of differing opinions, limited professional experience and no real consensus on the strengths and weaknesses of our team at the micro level. Our opinions would probably hinder more than help.

Frankly, if RTB does read these boards then he should get in touch with us and let us know what information he's looking for, so we can assist him more and navel-gaze less. I've got a bit of spare time that I'm willing to put towards the club's premiership efforts - let me know what stats the club needs measured or what research the club wants done (...wouldn't be the first time...) and I'll be there with bells on.

Ross has many alias's and posts on this board:D

I think the Freo club may have a little interest on these boards and potentially someone in the office keeping tabs on what is bugging/of interest to supporters. But the chances of the coaching staff or RTb having the time or interest to read the rambling of posters such as myself on this board is nil or less! IMO

RTB is a footy workaholic and does not have time for this crapola.

Lukey'll do admirably and keep the backline functioning, but k-k-k-k-Kennedy or Darling will end up falling to Dawson. And they'll monster him. The Eagles have a pretty enviable set of key forwards.

RTB mentioned that he's pretty keen to play Apeness some time this year!

200cm-100kg big unit!
I have little faith. The thing letting Freo down is the second tier playing like they don't care; poor skills, no application, settling for losing contests... the guys getting a game are the same ones who were playing admirably last season. The personnel isn't the issue.

We need our guys to take an extra half a second to spot up the right option - we lost good opportunities for taking long odd shots from distance instead of hitting up players. The other thing is providing a target up forward that isn't Pav - he cops it in the back whenever he leads, and gets double teamed the rest of the time. Stop kicking to him, and look for shorter options.

The personnel has to be a factor when your missing the likes of Micky b,son son and ballas.
