I've been to nearly all of our games this year.

The one defining quality that has caused us to lose all year is NOT inability to hit targets (although that has hurt us a lot), or poor coaching positional moves or lack of talent on the field.

No my friends, it is the same problem that has plagued us for 25 years.

It is the the lack of personnel that are willing to absolutely bust their guts and run hard all day. No running means no man free to kick to up field. No running means no manning up when the opposition have the ball.

It was never more obvious than when Adelaide had their kickouts in the second half on the weekend. As soon as they got the ball, their players ran as hard as they could out of the backline to get possession of the ball meaning their tiger opponents were left in their wake. When we kicked out, everybody was stationary. Sure there was always the short and easy option available.

Players continually look up and have no option to kick to and that slows our play down to a crawl giving our forwards no options.

I hate to say it, but the culture that has been at the club for so many years can now be quantified:

It is called LAZINESS!

That's true, but whats the fix.

Dump all older players in favour os starting a new culture? (except Richo)
Piss the coaching staff off, and get some mongrels in there to push the bastards?
CHnage the administration so they push the coaching staff to perform better than mediocre?

I dont know? tell me

Well I don't know what the hell they were thinking bring back pettifer, tivendale and bowden for a start.Another good cleanout is needed at the end of the year.

Our lack of pressure from kick-outs has been noticeable for years my friend. I remember saying to a mate of mine at the time when they brought in the new rules for kicking out - that is, being able to kick the ball back in immediately as opposed to the old way of waiting for the umpire to wave the flags - that Richmond would suffer the most from the rule change. And that is the case.
Watch your hawthorns and Geelong. The ball goes through for a behind, they sprint to get in to position for the zone!! We don't!
It's called DISCIPLINE and ACCOUNTABILITY, two of the things we lack big-time!
It should be drilled in to the player that once a point is scored, you run to position.
You watch next week - just how many loose players are lurking around the wing and half back line with hands on hips when we score a behind! It's alarming and embarrassing!!!
To think these guys are earning $150,000, $200,000 plus to be unaccountable.

guys like bowden ,petts ,tivendale ,hyde are all old school

have a look at matty white against the crows, the kid runs his guts out chaseing running to position sheperding & creating the loose man for us.
while the above mentioned only run foward of the ball & are not prepared to do the hard work.

i can understand what terry wants them to do, lead with their experiance
BUT the experiance they have is to bludge & wax the ball to make their own stats look good.........they are lazy pure & simple
reiwoldt............must play & be left in the side all year
hughes............................ ditto
morton............................. ditto
connors............................ ditto
rance shoul play ateast 5 games this year

time to develope these kids

exactly.
Every week I complain that we have no one running to make options for the fullback to kick too. We are very lazy and I can't believe we haven't got it all worked out in 3.5 years of terrys coaching. Terry obviously hasn't looked at this hard enough

great call yellow and black, i was saying exactly the same thing at the game also. It was embarassing how easily the crows moved it out of defence. Lazy and no heart..

too many of our players are indecisive with the pill at various times, FFS tivers comes into the team as an experienced player and was found wanting even simmo was caught not seizing on right option first time. I might add that both crows and swans play the man on man game better than anyone and make it difficult to break the game open with run as options are narrowed with every %^%$ manned up:eek:

The lazy culture has been at Punt road for far too long. Sometimes I have thought that our fitness levels were not good enough to gut run all day long, but as the years have rolled on and fitness staff have changed, I can't blame that for ever.
No folks YBB is absolutely correct.

Unfortunately RFC= L A Z Y and it kills me to say it:(

I think the problem at Richmond for the past 6 or 7 years has always been that we tend to have two types of players, Ones that are skilled and ones that try hard. Other clubs have one type of player. A player that is skilled and try hard. We have always had the liks of McMahon, going back to the days of Fiora who had a bit of talent but just no effort. On the flipside, today we have players like Jackson and King who try as hard as they can, and, at least in Jacksons case, just dont have the skills. In the past we had guys like Fleming who fit this category.

Terry, please recruit more like Cotchin and Foley, ones who can at least kick and are prepared to run out 4 quarters
