I strongly believe we'll make finals next year but the only thing that could stop us from making those. This is a list of our player's game experience:

*Astrix indicates players that may not make first 22 in 2008
- List excludes draft picks, rookie elevations and trade players

1 - 50 Games (14 Players)
Austin*, Hampson*, Hartlett*, Jamison, Grigg*, Anderson*, Jackson, Bower, Gibbs, Blackwell*, Cloke, Russell*, O'Hailpin, Murphy

50 - 100 (10)
Bentick*, Betts, Bannister**, Carrazzo, Simpson, Fisher, Ackland, Walker, Waite, Wiggins*

100 - 150 (3)
Thornton, Scotland, Fev

150+ (3)
Houla (157 games), Saddo (160), Stevens (192)

It's a scary thought that pretty much half our list has played under 50 games. If you compare our list's experience to Geelong's they have 13 players who have played over 100 games, compared to our 6. Over double the amount and that is not even counting the players they have traded/delisted or players they have picked up. Experience is the only thing that could stop a successful finals run from the blue baggers next year.

On any criteria you want to name, Carlton are still a long way from a mature list.

When you think about it, within the next year if things go to play, a lot of the under 50 gamers will move up to the 50-100 game section, the 50-100 gamers will move up to 150+, so on and so forth. One year makes all the difference.

where is Judd, Hadley.

Hadley's only played 41 games but at least has a hard body. This thread merely serves to remind the Blue Army to be patient. Out young fellas need some more experience before they can be expected to win finals matches.

what do you expect though we had a youth policy nobody under the age of 24 but does any one know when this ends. also once these guys get more and more experience thell be beter than expected eg murphs and gibbs etc are going to be stars.

This is a very important group of 5 players here.
Put another 20+ games into these guys, and we are starting to assemble quite an expreienced group of talented kids.

Also, Murphy will go past 50 games in 2008 as well, and without being tagged each week, we could reasonably expect to get more output from him next year.

It ended with Smorgan:thumbsu: Now we just go after the best!

Experience is a misnomer in the footy world.

For you to have experience you must be a good player and have been able to justify your spot on a list for many years. If you aren't good enough you get delisted as someone who didnt have the skills necessary. Or strength necessary. If you make it you are experienced at 100 games +.

Our problem has been we have had to, or we have selected, too many players not up to scratch in recent years. Over 2000-2006 we continued to pick up players deemed unworthy by other clubs or those that were not good enough.

Now that we have been properly drafting youll see talent come through the list, lift the level of output across the team and in time we'll have experience - MEANING WE HAVE A BUNCH OF GOOD TO VERY GOOD PLAYERS.

Sure young players need to play a few seasons to get ready and experience is a little bit of that, but more importantly its about physical size sufficient to make the contest and take contact.

i still think we are about 3 years away from really challenging the AFLs heavyweights... and my assumtion is truly based on the experiance and the age of the group...
i think it was said some where that the average age for a premiership side is 26.7 or so, our team is still in the 22-23yr old age group, alll this relates to experiance
