Is this the hardest run ever in the AFL? If we don't win against the Bomber this week, we can almost kiss our season goodbye, I want unbiased opinions on the games you think we are going to win or not.

RD3:- Essendon - My take is that this is a 50/50 game, big game for us.

RD4:- Adelaide (Loss)- If Adelaide get done next week, we are in trouble.

RD 5:- Geelong (Loss) - Geelong are the best team in the comp.

RD 6:- Collingwood (50/50) - This will turn out to be a must win for us.

RD 7:- St. Kilda (Loss) - I can't see us beating the saints.

RD 8:- Port Adelaide (Win) - Only reason is that they are our bitches.

RD 9:- Hawks (30/70) - In their favour.

So as you can see we have a hard core run here, if we can be 4 wins by the end of round 9 then we would deserve to make finals, as we would have earned that right. What do you guys think? UNBIASED please

Why the **** is the Essendon game 50/50!. I don't believe in any of this hoodoo shit. Thewy don't have Lovett, Lucas, Mcphee, Lloyd and i think NLM. Those 5 guys kill us every time. We are a better team than Essendon, and i can't think of one reason why we should lose to them.

We can beat every one of those teams on any given day.

We usually bitch out to Adelaide but they have had an appalling run with injuries and if they don't get some key players back and Judd rips up his first game back then I think we can take the points

And we don't have Judd or Fevola, with Fev usually performing against the Bombers even though we get done. Add to that Stevens who has a good record against the Bombers.

Essendon can also beat a team on any given day.

That's way it's a 50 / 50 game.

We have to ensure that they don't bust us up in the midfield with pace like they have in the past. We need to "block" the middle and win the taps, Hille has been good against us in the past so will be interesting to see how him and Warnock match up.

Yes I beleive we have better overall talent than them. But talent alone does not win you games of football. Essendon on the past 5 occasions have beaten us, and have a game plan style that we as yet have not come to terms with. Fact. Given our draw if we dont win this GAME, we could easily be 2 and 6 and or 1 and 7 ,season over. Lets see What RATTEN has is stall for KNIGHTS bc knights has owned him lately!!

Furthemore Essendon grows a leg when playing us, its just we have two grow 2 legs!!!

Steven's was very good against Essendon, but from memory, his last game was absolutely atrocious. Essendon always destroyed us by breaking the lines, mostly due to Andrew Lovett. I reckon we can trust Joseph and Armfield to towell Dempsey and Davey, who i reckon must be stopped. Besides that, our midfield is streets ahead of essendon, and if Bower comes up ok, we should have no problems.

As people are saying, 1 week at a time... this week it's the bummers.

They are not as good as they have been in the past and I reckon we will roll them this year.

Wont be by a huge margin, but 10 points will do it I reckon :D

Based on current form, we should beat Essendon on Saturday night, and the Crows were awful today against Sydney. Next two games don't appear to be as tough as we thought they might be.

See how the crows go next week as well... if their shit form continues, we would be a chance I reckon.

They do play Melbourne at the 'G, and based on their form against Collingwood, if they can reproduce that, they would be a big chance to knock over the Crows.

Steven's last game against Bombers was poor (b4 that, very good), and Lovett will be a big lose for them as he's ripped us to shreds in the past.

Hopefully AJ & the much improved Army hold the 2 players you mentioned, and I think they should.

We still have to watch players like Dyson, Jetta, Winderlich, Slattery, Walsh (he was excellent against us last year even though working as a tag), Stanton, Watson (he did very well against us last year, also), and Monfries who has a very good record against us. These guys tend to perform against us. Then again, our mids are very good, McLean's been a great addition, and we've probably got more run through the team with the emergence of JR, the Yaz, Waite (now back) and Walks.

There's also the question on our forward line, the boys have been great the last two weeks but this coming game is probably the best backline they've faced. It could perform better than the one dimensional forward line, or it could perform worse. It's a big question

IMHO it just seems more even between the sides than a comfortable victory for us, although I think we should win

I think a lot of commentators rated Essendon to go further than what I would've. Given the position of the Bombers & Blues over the last two years, and their young lists, I don't think there's much difference between them at the moment ... but we will draw clear

RD4:- Adelaide (Loss)- If Adelaide get done next week, we are in trouble.

Although I agree with one week at a time, perhaps if Adelaide lose the next one its because they have issues and could point to us beating them rather than not?

Glass half empty again mate?

And if we dont beat the Bombers then we have not improved, as I have said in many threads now, I dont mind losing to good sides, but I cant stand losing to inferior sides, and so far there appears to be at least 5 sides inferior (Rich, Melb, NM, WC, Ess) and a couple that look good so far but have not faced any quality yet (Freo and Port) and too early to tell if Swans have found anything extra.

We just have to play to our potential and beat these inferior teams and snag a win here and there against equal sides such as Brisbane and the better 4 or 5 and I cant see why we would not finish top 8 again.

I go into every game now justafiably thinking we can win every game we play. It s been a while since we could genuinly believe that.

I seem to have heard the same crap about us smashing the Bombers the last few times, only to have them hand us our backsides on a plate every time. As for Adelaide, well they have smashed us the last few times, yes they have had a shocking start to the year, but I don't see them playing like shit for too long.

Essendon have lost far too much goal scoring power from last year, and the one bloke that consistently carved us up isn't there either. If we take our chances next week, and don't turn the ball over accross HB, then we should just be too strong for Essendon next week. I just can't see them kicking a winning score against us.

Great, level headed assesment. I honestly can't help but go into every game, thinking that we will smash the opposition, it is my only mindset, after going through such years of crap. The one thing i disagree with, is your assesment on their backline, it falls away pretty drastically after Fletcher and Pears, and to be honest, i reckon Sentanta is too quick for Fletcher and Henderson will match up well on Pears. I'm actually missing the next three weeks of football (first time i've missed a game in Melbourne in about 2 years), so i guess i will have to wait and see how we perform.

Dons - Win
Crows - if injury is still against them than we could pull off a win here. 40-60
Cats - why not we knocked them off last year 30-70
Pies - anything can happen - 50/50
Saints - Loss, cant see us beating them
Port - Win
Hawks - Win

I actually enjoy the tough draw, because it gives us a chance to showcase our list talent against the better non-Carlton teams. No reason why we can't win all 7. We beat the Cats comfortably last year, should have beaten the Saints, and smashed Failurewood to pieces in our first game against them last year. All very winnable. Getting Judd back soon, and out new forward setup is starting to settle. Bower and Austin will strengthen the back half as well. All going along nicely.

:)

3. Essendon - Win.
4. Adelaide - have there injury worries could pull of a victory.
5. Geelong - Loss.
6. Collingwood - 50/50
7. St Kilda - Loss
8. Port Adelaide - 50/50
9. Hawthorn - 50/50 they have acouple of injury problems.

I think St.Kilda is the only team we need to fear. We can match any of the rest including geelong. We probably wont win them all but I expect we will be no worse than 5:4 after round 9. Would be great to finally knock the saints off.

Look if we can't beat essendon this week then we will be at best 2 and 5 most likely 1 and 6.

Essendon are a rabble with a very average side, we have everything to play for and are in pretty good form.

Define an unbiased view. Somebody who spends their life reading endless Carlton posts, goes to every Carlton game, owns a ridiculas amount of Carlton Merchandise. Is it really possible for me to have an unbiased view?

As someone said "one week at a time" Injuries, suspensions, form all change from week to week.

If we cant beat Essendon this week, we are going backwards.:thumbsu:
