OK, I'm going by this as far as how important he is to the team. Early last year he played mainly backline. In these games he was effective in a one two combo with Heath Shaw off the HBF and averaged around 20 disposals a game. Then mid-season, he was moved into the middle. Admittedly, he wasn't as effective as one would've hoped. However, late in the year last year he was moved to a HFF. In that position he scored 2 goals in every game after R17 except one I think. He is more valuable than most people thing because he can play anywhere on the ground. The same can be said for Dane Swan. So, going by skillwise, he isn't but he can play anywhere on the ground wihout breaking stride. I think only Clement, Buckley, Holland, Maxwell and maybe Dane Swan are mor important to the team set up. As far as skill goes, though, he would be behind a long list of players. If the side was selected based on skill, he would, admittedly, struggle to get a game.quote]
Now Tarkyn_24, I can appreciate that Tarks is your favourite player and you don't like people critising him. BUT to honestly think that Lockyer is one of our top 5 most important players is absolutely laughable.
Fraser, Rocca, Heath Shaw, Clement, Prestigiacomo are just a few of the names that are a street ahead of Lockyer in terms of importance to the team. I would even go far as saying that Ryan Lonie is more important than Tarks - even though he is a soft as butter, he breaks the lines, is a great kick and can kick goals. Dale Thomas is even more important than Tarks, he adds much needed leg speed, can do the impossible, tackles, chases and harrasses the opposition and has that x-factor about him.
Tarks is not a back pockets a**hole, he gets beaten too often and the quality small forwards in the competition carve him up every time. He can't kick anymore and leg speed is a problem. He is borderline for our best 22, let alone in our top 5 important players. Only reason he was playing up forward was because Neon Leon was out injured. Being 'versatile', doesn't mean he can win the game of his own boot, save a game in defence for us or be considered as an important player. Fraser, Rocca, Clement, Presti, Heath Shaw, Thomas all can.
I like the first four ideas, not so the last. Rest Tarks, he's easily in our most important (not best) 5 players.

Anyone heading up for the game?
I think it will look similar to this:
B - Clement Presti Anthony
HB- H.Shaw Maxwell Lockyer
C - O'Brien Licuria Pendelbury
Hf - Thomas T. Cloke Brown
FF - Davis Rusling Medhurst
Rucks - Richards, Swan, R.Shaw
Inter - Fraser, Egan, Reid, Bryan, Lonie, Goldsack, Cox, Toovey
Clement won't be ready until midway through the NAB, so unless we make the final he won't be in use.
