Where to now?

Jeff White PSD?

Vickery pick 8?

This is one area that must be addressed quickly.

Vickery at pick 8 with 2 rookies. Would have liked Seaby to fill the void, but I'd prefer pick 26. Still this means that we now have to rely on Pattison and Graham to have some miracle improvement and hope to hell that Putt comes on. Cartledge will be delisted I think.

jeff white would be a terrible solution...our ruck stocks will not stand in the way of of us improving , benchmarked against this years premeirs our ruckman are more than adequate...we should take the very best youngster available be it a KPP or midfielder...Dont use No 1 pick on ruckman , already been debated to death

Agree B17.

Whether we go tall or small with pick 8 or 26, pick 58 must be ruckmen.

Then as Beaver suggested, take 2 rookie ruckmen.

i dont think its that urgent that we need to take vickery at pick 8 (i wouldnt complain if we did)..

simmonds still has at least 12 months in him, meaning that 1 of gus, putt etc could still come through

worst case we could always trade for seaby next year

If Simmonds goes down we are well and truely ****ed..

No Polak means that we would have to play Patto first ruck and Graham second!

Even if we take Vickery with pick 8 (i hope we do) he won't really come on for another 3 or 4 years.

we could always put richo back in the ruck :D:D

thing is - now what?

we got 1 player in - and still only tiva and hyde are out.

we now need to cut at least 2 more for nothing?

some pretty big decisions have to be made on cass, meyer, polo and schulz

Jeff White would do Carlton a world of good, but he's no good to us.
We can put up with Patto and Gus in the ruck for a season or two whilst Vickery and our two rookie rucks develop.

.

dont be a bloody w***er, where did he finish in the B&F again:rolleyes:..cartledge will be kept on as a rookie as insurance,,,But dont try and tell me our 2008 result was underpinned by the performance of simmo, i wont but that foir a bloody minute:eek:

not totaly against picking up White for a year - still managed some good numbers this yr...

There were lots of comments through trade period that Warnock and Seaby were still young for ruckmen, and their bets was ahead of them.

Patto is 2 years younger than either of them and Graham younger still, so there is still a lot of room for them to develop.

We have a significant age gap due to Frawley not getting any young Rucks, and yeah, Simmo falling over will expose that, but it's a problem that will right itself, so didn't require us to butcher ourselves at the trade table to fix.

If Vickery is there at 8, we'd have to look closely at him, but if he's not, thats OK too.

So when Simmonds retires we are going to have Pattison no.1 ruck and Graham no.2 are we? That will go down as the worst ruck combo is the history of the game.

a) Cartlege can't be kept as a rookie

b) Clearly you have SFA idea of how important Simmonds is to our set-up, he is probably the most underated player in our side. Richmond rarely loose when he's in form. There is a HUGE step down from Simmonds to Pattison and another step down to Graham. Last year Simmonds was either out of the team or not at full fitness and look where we ended up. Simmonds is easily, and I mean EASILY one of our 5 most important players. More importantly, an unfit or injured Simmonds hurts out team more then any other unfit or injured palyer

Do you actually think before you speak (type)?

Going either tall or small for picks 8 and 26... gee whiz, your narrowing it down!

And to B17, picking a ruckman with selection 58 and then taking two rookies would leave us with:

Simmonds
Pattison
Putt
Graham
Pick 58
2 x rookie ruckman

7 ruckman on a list of 40 odd. Now, if only 2 get to play per team, our worst ruckman is going to end up playing in Shepparton kicking a dried up piece leather around a ****ing cow paddock.

7 ruckman on our list, and some say its the most over-rated positon on the team!

Ps. Our best performing ruckman last year, after Simmo, was probably Cartledge! Want to make it 8?

Idiots

Well i may be wrong but bowden is gonna go on the vets list, and polak will be rookie listed similar to rama at essendon. That means we dont need to cut any, but we will probably cut 1, casserley. That leaves us 3 national draft picks and 1 psd pick.

As they are at the moment, yeah, perhaps.

But they will get better over the next few years. Perhaps they wont be a dominant force in Rucking, but they should be at least solid.

I think Pettifer will go and then maybe one of Cass/Jon. Really Kane Johnson should give it away, now we have Thomson, we really have Cogs/Johnson/Thomson going for the one spot in the team.

Bowden is already on the vet list. Polak it seems will be left on the list.

looking forward to your response B17.

Solid? Pattison went backwards this year if anything, and Graham was average on his best days at Coburg. Where is this unforeseen development going to come from? I certainly don't see it.
