FJ's drafting of talls has been truly poor.
Vickery, Griffiths, Elton, McBean, McKenzie, Batchelor and Astbury (who I cannot believe has been given a three-year extension) have been less than dominant.
I'm not putting Chol or Cal Moore down as fails as they have only just arrived, but I'm less than confident.
Only Grimes has delivered but is held together with masking tape.
Anyone know of any KPP prospects in this year's draft that FJ can miss out on picking?

Huge problem for us going forward.
Griffiths needs muscles into those shoulders as he will get plenty of game time next year.......

Riewoldt and Rance have delivered. But agree it's not great. Weren't Vickery, Griffiths, Elton and McKenzie all supposed to go significantly higher but slid due to injury/question marks? I seem to recall Vickery, Griffiths and Elton especially all touted as top 10 picks if not for injury.

Vickery was pick 6, Elton we came out after the draft and said we thought he was a top 10 pick which is why we took him. Griffiths was the hype forward ahead of Carlisle and Black who were seen to be more bankable and Butcher who had was the lock no#1 until question marks over his kicking began to surface.

We gotta be targeting at least a couple of established talls during trading this year.

Rucks:
Hammer - a 'good' season, that is all
Maric - gone surely
Soldo - rookie

Key forwards:
Jack - gun but starved
Griff - good once every 4 weeks
Elton - !
Moore - !
Chol - ?

WOW!

Need Benny boy to put it all together. Hold together as well!
Hopefully Elton can step up, thought his contested marking looked ok.
Wouldn't mind Astbury having a go up forward at times, can mark and kick straight.
I even feel that a 100% fit Lids can help as he has the best hands in the AFL.
On a wing and a prayer.

Vickery was maybe a reach. But that draft after Watts and Natanui (one and two), Vickery was the best forward available. Our forward line then was worse than it was now.

Elton looked a certain top 10 pick the year prior to his draft year. Struggled after that, but showed flashes. He was expected to go higher (to GWS I think as a ruckman) but slid to 26.

Griffiths was supposed to be the next big thing, but even as a juinor his body was made of paper mache.

McKenzie was all over the shop. Some had him top 20, others undrafted.

I question the development of our talls mainly. Vickery played but we weren't sure whether he was a forward or a ruckman. I don't think we ever answered that. Elton we played forward. Then back. Then forward again. Griffiths the same.

We also had a clear strategy of more recent years to take talls with 2nd/ 3rd round selections, which I can kind of understand. I mean, we always semi-joke that talls take longer to develop, but you would suggest this is really the case. We've seen some talls go high who have done SFA (Thorpe and Dowler come to mind instantly, Cook I think from Melbourne), so we have been 'conservative' with our first pick and taken midfielders who are (theoretically) more ready to player earlier than a big.

Can understand and agree with the strategy, though looking back in hindsight I may change my tune a little...

Astbury was recruited as a centre half forward, first game kicks three goals , then sent to the defence by your pinup boy

Yes it doesn't make for good reading. I'm not exactly sure over 1 trade period how it can be fixed either. Vickery, Mckenzie ,Mcbean, Chaplin , perhaps Maric all gone & Elton, Moore, Chol miles off it.

registered , now where is the fj cant draft small , medium , midfielders, backs , forwards or onballer threads ?
There is a generic thread too bro. Stop watching Paige's porno and you should find it ;)

Unfortunately we really need to draft some kpfs. Riewoldt is what 28 now? We need to star developing two or 3 high quality forwards asap.

If we swap Lennon with Witts that will fill one hole
We need to trade for a tall defender. WC have plenty of them and if Conca can be traded I'd swap him for Schofield or Mckenzie who will help for 3-4 years while we draft another tall defender. That would mean Elton is delisted
We might have to draft a tall forward with pick 6.
Edwards may be involved in a trade for Prestia
Vlastuin should definitely move into the middle

Sign John Butcher. He is our "future"
