Ovens & King FL discussion 2022

I can't see the Ovens & Murray axing their reserves comp just to help out the Tallangatta, Hume, Murray, Picola, Upper Murray and Ovens & King competitions, so we can set that option aside.

I think over time, there will be mergers by natural attrition and there is no need to force clubs into joint ventures.

I think many of us are realistic enough to know that the comp won't look the same 10 years from now.
Upper Murray won’t exist in any form next year because a few clubs were too stubborn. The O&M won’t need to axe their twos comp because it’s already dying on it’s own, it’ll be replaced with a senior women’s comp in the next few years. Clubs like NW would rather fold than merge, they’ve shown this by choosing 300 point thumpings instead of an open mind to receive help from another club. Tarra and Milawa have been dominant for over a decade, all their good players are too old now with no one coming through. They’ll be the next two clubs to struggle.

I don’t like cheats, Your club loved to try and raid everyone else’s players every off season, I’ve had some stern words with a few people in the past and they didn’t like it, let’s just say one of those blokes had great respect for me.
At the end of the day no one believes any of the crap you dish out. Your hatred for Milawa and your blindness about your own club leads you nowhere. Money got your club nowhere and milawa have fielded just as many 1 pointers as anyone else in the last decade and still has 3rds players running around from the 2000’s. You don’t win club of the year 12 out of the
Geoff, get it through your head. No clubs are desperate enough to merge with a club that folded in 2019, who would want to bring in the toxic culture you had ?
Absolutely the most hated club going around and they did it to themselves. Toxic board brought in toxic mercenaries and bled the club dry. Only a couple of players from that club are still in the league now, just goes to show the type of players/people the had.

Hoping Greta win it this year, they deserve it more than the other sides, Benalla have done a Milawa and are just trying to buy one. Benalla have no supporters.

Hopefully Benalla don’t have any sniffer dogs at their game, they could end up a few players short.
Apparently the sniffer dogs are still walking around in circles with their noses bleeding after going through the Glenrowan home rooms and following the scent to Wang night clubs, pubs and even into the Warby’s. Rumour has it…

What’s the future for the O&K with out juniors? The scraps from the O&M are drying up. The league needs to condense itself, have less teams that are twice as strong. A good start would be King valley/Milawa merge. Tarra & NW join forces. Greta/Glenrowan become one. Whorouly and Moyhu could look at sharing grounds and becoming one entity. Bright, Benalla and Bonniedoon stand alone.
What planet are you on, that why there is no Glenrowan anymore. Merge clubs that are 50kms from each other have KV drive past Moyhu to join Milawa - then send Whorouly past Milawa to join Moyhu and Greta join a club that no longer exists

Yes Greta is apparently struggling that much it needs to merge with Glenrowan? Both sides made the second week of finals and for a town of 100ish people they only used 28/42 points. From the outside looks like they are building a sustainable model with room to recruit a couple of guns to top up the list

It should be a clear cut case and dealt with quickly, pretty much doesn't need a tribunal.

a) An umpire/club official contacts the league and identifies the player(s) they would like to be investigated for their eligibility to play finals.

b) The league contacts the club concerned and says we are investigating the eligibility of said player(s) and whether the club has anything to add before the process begins.

c) The league checks the player(s) eligibility and then makes a decision.

d) Ring the club being investigated, advise them of the decision and then issue a media release via the league website/local media/all clubs so that the issue can be put to bed.

Then again, a clued-up club official would contact the league in the week leading up to the final and confirm the eligibility of said player(s) so that none of this palaver occurs in the first place.

Be Handy if the League actually sent out a list of Qualified players.
Does anyone know if any leagues actually do this

Geez that sounds like getting a ribbon for participation.
It’s not to hard to work during the year that said player can’t play more than 8 senior games and must play 6 reserve games if they play 3 senior games. Clubs have done it for years. Milawa have clearly dropped the ball with 2 players this year. I did see a few of the players jumping on FB to say they aren’t cheats….

It's a weird rule, but your think most club managers would be over it, hopefully it's changed, as there's a lack of players for 2s footy and getting volunteers, just make a rule you can't play X amount of senior games and minimum 3 reserves games

100% agree, in the current state of the twos comp that is hard to avoid. Would be a balancing act though changing it so that teams can’t load a twos side once the ones are out.
