Every time we lose, you all throw hissy fits saying sack the coach, sack the player, how pathetic are we? we wont make the finals etc blah blah blah.

I, as i'm sure are others, are so bloody over it! I wanted to have a sensible chat about last nights performance, but i didnt know which friggin thread to choose, because there is so many.....and there all bloody negative...plus, whats the point as were so bloody "hopeless"

1) What did you expect to happen last night!? If you went in expecting to win...your a goose.
2) Now i know we didnt want an 88 pt thumping, and didnt expect that either (so yes, we're all upset at that)....but jeeeezuz, take a breath before you all start threads on how pissed off you are, because its become tiresome, boring and very unproductive.

Put the loss, and amount we lost by into context...then pass judgment.
1) We played a very good football side...very good.
2) We were missing Didak, Leon, Jack, Medders, Cloke was not right, and Rocca isnt 100% that is our whole forward line! Is it any surprise we had the same amount of inside 50's, but couldnt score...NO! we had no one to do it!
3) Fraser injury
4) Our boys, were outplayed, out muscled by men. We had kids running around for christs sake.

So again....what did you expect?? I expected the side to put in 100% all night regardless...and i though 80% of the lads did that, they worked there asses off, believe you me....they chased, they tackled, and put in...we just caught a good side at our weakest/worst.

Positives to come out: Rocca looked okay, he's getting back into the swing of it. Presented extremely well, and made contests every time.
Barham, Wellingham, Daisy, Maxy, Pendles, Obree worked and worked all night...(btw i'm not sure what you all expect of Daisy).

All i'm trying to say is, instead of doing the same crap every time we loose, and blaming the same people, and talking the same garbage that always pops up....start a thread about one positive to come from the game, or offer some constructive crticism, its worth a lot more than the other rubbish.

There's always one or two positive threads, like this one

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=577021

You have to expect people to get negative, they come on here to let off steam, its better then getting in a fight or breaking something.

Most people on here support the club through thick and thin, and by Thursday or Friday this week, that game will be all but forgotten, and we will be talking up our chances against the scum.:)

Thanks mate, Steele was very good i thought. It's just hard to find the positive threads when there are so many to the contrary. And make no mistake, there were things broken (my poor remote), i am as upset as the next woodsmen...i think people should let the game settle and digest for 24 hrs before posting. Often, losses as we have seen cause mass hysteria, and wins of any sort bring on the "we are invincible threads". Our loyalty and passion can sometimes cloud our judgement perhaps...

Ill tell you how they treet it down at the club

1 - Just forget it and move on. Our forward line was absent, injurys and so on and the saints were red hot.

2 - Its one of those games that every team go through. Didnt half exspect it did we.

3 - Just to jog everyones memory didnt the cats lose to someone by over 100 points last year. Was there season over or did they just move on and say owell that was a shocker.

4 - What ever happens i still believe MM, Pebbles and Toovey need to take some time off, like a few years.

Apart from that dont beat yourself up over it. shit happens and puts us back into reality. Im happy, were equal 14th on the ladder woo hoo hot pies.

Completely off topic, but as im new to this and can't start my own thread i dont really have a choice.

I have a mate in Ireland who less than an hour ago sent me an SMS saying he had just heard on the radio that Marty Clarke was returning to Ireland to play GAA.

Anyone else heard anything about this?

Theres a massive demolishing, dropping the winnable and an honourable loss, Collingwood ain't capable of an honourable loss. They either get demolished, or drop the winnable. Its rather pathetic.

There has been rumours about Marty for a while now, probably since Tadgh Kennelley left Sydney.

If I remember right, Marty's only response on the topic was that "one day he would like to return home and play in the GAA for his local county".

But whether that is next year or years down the track, only Marty and those close to him would know that.

While he would be a loss, it is up to Marty to do what is right for his own life and family, so good luck to him whatever he may choose to do.

But most of those that run around screaming while pulling their hair out after a loss, don't have the ability to think beyond the next 5 minutes.

You don't have to be super intelligent to barrack for Collingwood, if we had that as a criteria, all you would hear in here are crickets and the Chicken Littles.

Hmmmm although Marty would be a big loss, I don't think it'd be as much of a massive loss as we'd have thought it would be a couple of years ago. He is a very serviceable player for us, but he definitely never lived upto the standards I personally expected of him.

By the way, if you think I'm being critical, thats fine, I'm purely making the assessment on the fact that his comments make him seem more interested in WHEN he is going back to Ireland more-so than 'I want to win a Collingwood premiership then go back' sort of thing. I can understand anyway, 4-5 years ago, he wouldn't have cared less who was an AFL premier but still, I'm disappointed he hasn't shown more support to the club than he has regarding the issue of him going home.

I understand where you're coming from, but at the moment all we are going off is some rumours and one interview that Marty did a while ago.

For all we know, Marty might be very happy in Melbourne, and may play 10 years for us, we just dont know. It's always going to happen with the Irish players, the Melbourne players (Stynes and Wight) are the only exceptions of players who stayed in Australia after their career.

I for one hope he stays a while, love seeing him play, and if he can regain some of the form he had in the 07 finals, and late last year, he can help us a lot.

Sooo i'm guessing the possibility of constructive criticism, something useful to add, something to debate is out of the question? Mate i'm frustrated, annoyed, upset, and looking for answers after every collingwood loss...it just seems on this board, no-one has the ability to discuss and dissect our losses without thinking the world is going to end, and all hope is lost. What can we take from the game last night?

so you are trying to tell us that posters on this and otherd boards don't represent a cross-section of society and more importantly Collingwood supporters?

Stuff the positives, we know what meager few they are.

It doesn't concern you that Carlton and now Essendon are developing at a far greater rate than us?

Not at all, i'm trying to say that after every loss, the same threads appear over and over again...consisting of Drop Toovey, Obree is useless, We are so bad, we are pathetic etc etc. It is quite easy to regurgitate the same rubbish every time, yet there is no discussion/debate on the actual game, the events during the game, or what the team should do moving forward.

Its just grown men/women (the majority) throwing tantrums, and not really offering up any solutions or ideas that can be discussed properly. The same boring topics dont offer any insight or thought.

Re: Carlton and Essendon: One would hope the blues would come good sooner or later, there's a few high draft picks in amongst that lot...i would have thought their progression up the ladder was only a matter of time.

Essendon on the other hand, i dont think are developing at a greater rate than us at all. People forget so easily...we have lost Buckley, Clement, Licuria, Burns, Wakelin, Holland, soon to be Rocca. Make no mistakes about it, our boys need a few more years yet to have a serious crack at glory. Thats a shite load of experienced players/leaders gone, the players on the park Monday night were boys...they'll come good. I think the key is clearly game time, Knights is getting AFL time into his players, and it's starting to show, our boys need consistent game time, and that is'nt happening imo....and i'm quite sure in order to get game time and experience into our players, will involve more painful losses and inconsistent results...get used to it.

Last few weeks it would appear Carlton are crashing faster than us. So I am looking forward to the game on Sunday and some "Happy Pie Supporters"

And I am with you thewhitelama.................. while I respect the rights of others to voice their opinions it has become rather an uninviting place to be.

I want to be a Happy Collingwood person, but when we loose I am sad.

Is that bad?

Did you expect the poor displays this year would go unoticed, or worse should be sugarcoated?

The negativity has been building up for a long time.

There's so much uncertainty surrounding Collingwood right now that we're all confused and frustrated.

We don't know where we're at playing group wise. We don't know where the club is heading. We don't know whether the club's finances are going to recover in the short-term. We don't know who's going to be a coach, and whether it will make a difference. We don't know whether Eddie and our administration's doing a good job. We still don't know whether leaving Vic Park was a good idea. We don't know whether 2 GFs early in MM's career was good or bad.

Losing ANZAC the way we lost it, getting pumped by the Saints, and now staring down a thumping at the hands of our arch enemy while we have a multitude of injuries ... things aren't looking rosy for the black and white and the frustration that has been building up is starting to seap out.

The worst thing is, we don't know how to get out of it.

Sorry to put a downer on the positive thread, but I've been positive in most threads (trying to convince myself mainly). My honest feeling is ... we're f$#ked this Sunday.

No more honest feelings about this sunday Ant85. Ill put my house dog cat and the rubbish bins on it, we will win by 50points plus.
