I wouldnt call The Wire overrated. It deserves the praise, and is still relatively unseen in terms of pop culture.

Yeah I don't think it's fair to call The Wire overrated. It is outstanding.

Its relatively small fan base (it never had that many viewers on TV in America) and that it never won an Emmy for anything (and only two nominations - both for writing which obviously doesn't get much media attention) may make it look like it gets its penis sucked too much relative to its lack of success (commercial and 'critical').

The strange thing is employed TV reviewers seemed to love it (the later seasons anyway) yet Emmy voters seemed oblivious to its existence.

I don't understand awards shows. I'm a fan of Community, yet it gets repeatedly snubbed. I'm not saying it deserves to scoop the pool or anything, but it can't get one nomination while The Big Bang Theory gets a bucketload every year? It's not as if they don't recognise good shows either (30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm etc.)

Overrated - SUSHI. Let's break it down... Plain rice with a minuscule amount of meat (often uncooked) and a stick of cucumber and carrot wrapped in seaweed. If I put those ingredients into a bowl or onto a plate I can guarantee people wouldn't be going crazy about how nice it is.

Underrated - Dons and Udons from Japanese restaurants. They are really nice and often overlooked because people are caught up in the sushi hype and they don't try out other things on the menu.
