I think it's pretty exciting for the league for another club to be able to challenge the 'big 6' so to speak. If Everton and Wolves can also keep building and spending it's going to be a fun league to watch next season when ever that starts.

Moomba may just start supporting FFP when Newcastle buy Sterling / KDB for £500m and bump their wages to 600k / week.
Nah, FFP is finished. I'm sure it will be replaced by something else in a year or two. Especially if Newcastle start to challenge.

Whether I like the new rules or not will depend on the rules, not the club I support.

FFP is not finished.

Reckon it’ll appeal to some and turn others away.

Already becoming very disillusioned with the concept that spending above and beyond is seemingly the only way to win trophies, barring flukes. Money has corrupted football.

yes it is.
It is a bad system that needs to go

It's been that way for ages now though.

It used to be who could pinch it off United every season for a while there, this would actually add more competition. It's gone(or going) from a 'big 4' to maybe a 'big 6 to 9' teams.

It's a league with no salary cap so it's always going to be about spending to a certain extent.

Leicester did it (with a helping hand from you guys).

It can be done and financial controls are needed to keep the league competitive.

What financial controls are you thinking?

Unless it's a salary cap where United/City/Pool etc have to pay the same wages as Norwich/Bournemouth/Watford etc then it's not going to make a difference. Big clubs arent going to agree with that.

Leicester took advantage of a perfect storm(all the big 6 having a shit or shittish season at the same time), they are an exception not the rule.

FFP obviously but adapted to suit. Id like to see clubs approach FFP like you guys did - credit where it is due.

and it is something that is slowly turning me off football. At least United built their wealth organically and achieved sustained success largely due to a manager not a cheque book.

Seen it all now. The chavs as the beacons of financial morality.
They’re a big reason why these rules you love so much have come in.

Helping hand? Leicester won the league by 10 points, they didn’t need anyone’s help.

Unless it's a flat salary cap then there is always going to be the haves and have nots.

Salary cap can never work in football unless it is implemented worldwide. And that simply is just not feasible.

There's no reason why someone can't turn a have not into a have with the current FFP system.

Didn't see them applying for furlough did we? They are not the club they used to be in the mid to late 00's. I know you'll never give them credit but I am big enough to see past the club rivalry and give them the credit they deserve.

But the same team winning the league 13 out 19 seasons?

It was so much more boring then it is now. No doubt we are(with City) the reason for FFP but the more competition in the league the better IMO(even if it's to the detriment of the Chavs:D).

I just think no matter what measures are bought in theres still going to be haves and have nots. Salary cap is the only way to an even comp, but yep it'd need to be world wide and that aint happening.

Even with a salary cap you will still get haves and have nots. Look at St Kilda / Melbourne Demons / Carlton - the AFL couldn't be better setup to give everyone a shot and they continually still fail.

And that's with a controlled market which is only possible because there is nowhere else a footballer can play professionally apart from the AFL.

Isn’t that by and large the point. No one could consistently outdo Sir Alex fairly so needed to get sugar daddy’s in order to better his Manchester United

The game is undoubtedly worse off as a result. Here we are today with the probability that Newcastle won’t try and earn success, they’ll just buy cheapened success. Sport is meant to be about who is the best, not who has the biggest blank chequebook.

I swear I recall you defending the cheque book clubs. I know you always stuck up for City when I was going on about them

But you still have to be the best, money doesn't just get you results. You still need strong leaders, great players, luck to go your way. You still hjave to win the games. Moneys important but it doesn't guarantee anything.

Look at United, they are throwing money at their problems and are going nowhere.

Yep. Spurs have an owner who dodges tax and then asks for handouts from the government.

We used to be one of those clubs remember.
