When I look at West Coast with virtually no injuries and their strongest team on the park, I would expect a scrum of 6 - 10 players to be tearing it up in the WAFL and demanding selection, they have NOTHING!

East Perth has been a powerhouse in the WAFL for some time now, but since they have been poisoned with the Eagles' "depth" players they are a disgrace.

Peel have always been a basket case, but even allowing for our 16 or so injuries Peel are becoming a very strong side.

Who has the better depth Haggers, CLOWN???

Really looking forward to the finals in July. I think we get the first week of the July finals off for finishing top of the June ladder... Yep, just checked the fixtures, we definitely get the first week of July off.

Really looking forward to the finals in July. I think we get the first week of the July finals off for finishing top of the June ladder... Yep, just checked the fixtures, we definitely get the first week of July off.
So then is the GF the last week of July or the first week of August?

The AFL has us playing Sydney on the last day of July fixtures and West Coast in the final game of the first week of August fixtures.

Calm down. We still don't really have a forward line or a back line . Our skills are still questionable at best.

We are 2 or 3 years away from top 4 at least.
Our skills are much improved since the start of the year and our transitioning also. In his presser Ross said that the things we practiced over the summer were the pleasing aspects of the game, which suggests the game plan is clicking. I totally disagree that we don't have a forward line. We have been playing as well as we have because we do: Tabs is coming on, Pav is still contributing, and Mayne can play as a genuine third tall. We might lose the last two at the end of the year but we will have Apeness, Smith and hopefully McCarthy. There are a lot of permutations still to come this year but for the first time in a long time, I feel like we have cover in all of our lines, bar the ruck.

We have to belt Collingwood to stay ahead of Hawthorn (v GC, in Antarctica) and Geelong (v St Kilda @ Etihad).

I'm confident St Kilda will put up a good show but fear Hawthorn may steal it from us at the last gasp.

Traditionally the July GF is the first Saturday after Christmas (in July) but occasionally that occurs in August. Hopefully this clears up any confusion.

Positives? Honestly extremely excited for the years to come, barring injury of course we have an absolutely elite list of players heading into next year, and reckon we could beat any team on our day. We're learning our new gameplan and hitting our straps, our younger brigade are showing bright signs, and we have one of the best coaches in the business.

We already know Fyfe is a one in a century type player who can win a game off his own boot, Neale is only 23 and leads the ENTIRE competition on disposal count and his kicking is polishing up big time over recent weeks, I also have 100% faith that he'll be playing for Freo next year and many more years after. If he's hitting these sorts of numbers without a 211cm tall ruck-man helping him out, imagine the amount of damage he'll cause when he is. Crozier's been absolutely fantastic in defense and it's very exciting to see, last year every week I was worried when he was selected that he was going to under-perform and get thrown back to the WAFL, we knew how good he could be but could never cement his spot, but now I can confidently say he's guaranteed his spot in our best 22 and is there to stay. Walters, Hill, Sheridan are all quality, fast, and elite kickers.

We're going to see how good Bennell and McCarthy play (and look) in purple next year. And as for our young players, every game Weller plays makes me happy we took him at pick 13 in 2014, especially considering how good Collins looks down back who would otherwise be Jake Lever. Would I take Lever + an average mid or Weller + Collins? Probably the latter, easily. Blakely is just crazy good for his age, that's all there is say about Connor, he's just scary good.

Apeness
showed us in his first game back in over 2 years that he can take contested marks, pulverize Brendan Goddard's face, and is the human form of a wrecking ball, very keen to see more. Alex Pearce is a God-send, and Taberner is giving us performances some thought he could never be capable of. Tucker is a very promising first-year player, and I'm all aboard the Balic hype train for next year. Then in the upcoming draft there is a wide range of WA talent to choose from in Petrevski-Seton, Rotham, Powell-Pepper, Fisher, Baker, English, Strnadica, Guelfi, Bolton, the list goes on.

What's scary is that all these players I've listed are ALL under 26 bar Hill who turned 26 this year. The future is very, very bright that I'm almost blinded.

Yep. Nowhere near as dire as the media let on a few weeks ago. Collins is the biggest surprise packet for me. As terrible as the injury list is, this is his time to cement his spot for the rest of the season and he's doing a pretty damn good job of it! Not to mention Hughes who I reckon showed he has what it takes to become what Ibbo was back in 2012/13 and better. Langdon is another one who could be anything or nothing given the right opportunities. I honestly reckon we're one young-ish, dominant ruckman and a strong bodied KPF (could be Apeness) from challenging in a few years. I reckon 2017 will be as lean as this one but if the club does it right, we could be right in the mix in 2018.

In hindsight, as sh*thouse as it was back then, the Carlton loss was almost the best thing that happened to us this season.

Great post. Agree completely.

Yep. Our first pick will definitely be before GWS' first pick (they have Collingwood's first) which should help come trade and draft time.

With Collins, A.Pearce & Crozier, our backline isn't looking too bad at all IMO. Collins is a beast and A.Pearce was absolutely killing it before the incident.
