The Pacific Life Open, considered by many to be the “Grand Slam of the West”, is one of the elite international sporting events in the world today. Held annually at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, a state-of-the-art facility boasting a 16,000 seat stadium, the event has become the fifth most-attended tennis tournament in the world (270,000 in 2006).

It enjoys elite status on the ATP (ATP Masters Series) and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour (Tier I) calendars. This tradition of strong player fields including well-known champions, coupled with world-class tennis facilities and the idyllic weather and desert scenery of the Coachella Valley in Southern California, has fueled the Pacific Life Open’s emergence as one of the most prestigious tournaments on the tennis calendar and one at which a great performance is extremely important to a player's ranking and resume.

Hewitt will have to play Federer in the 4th Round. Can anyone stop Roger? He's my obvious tip on the men's side, and I'll pick Sharapova to take out the women's title.

Coverage begins on Fox Sports from Saturday the 10th.

Fed has 41 consecutive wins (12-0 in 2007) and has something to achieve each round:

1: bye
2: 42 wins - Canas/Hajek (equal 3rd with John McEnroe)
3: 43 wins - Moya/Stepanek (outright 3rd)
4: 44 wins - Hewitt/Ferrer (equal 2nd with Ivan Lendl)
Q: 45 wins - Blake/Djokovic (outright 2nd)
S: 46 wins - Davydenko/Safin/Murray/Haas/Gonzalez (equal 1st with Guillermo Vilas)
F: 47 wins - Ljubicic/Roddick/Robredo/Nadal/Nalbandian/Youzhny (will hold the new record outright)

I'm a Nalbandian nut so I hope he wins. All the big names in action tomorrow: Federer, Nalbandian, Blake, Safin, Ljubo and Hewitt. No one will stop Jesus Federer though.

Crushing that Juan Martin Del Potro lost to that French midget Gasquet :(
