I thought he really tried to take the game on with a few dashes threw the middle and created good drive comming off HB.
He showed clean disposels and worked hard when he was under the packs, while managing to shut down Lenny Hayes (iirc) so i think he showed how good he could be.

I would be dissapointed if he didn't get another game next week.

A poor mans Adam Cockie. Which isn't really a big compliment given that Cockie is a marginal player in our 22.

He tried hard but didnt show much.

We need some silk. He adds nothing in that regard.

Shit, either I wasn't paying enough attention or Hayes was shit because I was under the impression he didn't play :S

Yeah, pretty much agree. Not as hard or as fast as Cockie though, from what I have seen. He tried hard though...just seemed one dimensional.

If he was on Hayes then well done young man. :p

Maybe he could become our tagger? Didn't he at u18 level?

Did a great run with job on Cotchin in the '07 under 18 carnival - didn't see it but read an account of it in The Draft, a good book by Emma Quayle.

Thought McGinnity was very serviceable today, certainly a better debut than Swift's, although they are different sorts of players.

I like both McGinnity and Cockie, I think they both deserve to play next week over Rosa who was MIA this afternoon.

Tagged Cotchin out of a game or something?

Tried hard. Didnt get to most contests though. Probably only had 50% game time. I wont rag on a guy who only just played his first afl game though

I think McGinity is a chance of having a future, would have him ahead of McNamara and Cockie. Cockie should stay on the Rookie list in 2010 as he is clearly not best 22.

McGinity should be retained and looked at for a negative role or small backmen, this would allow S.Selwood to play a nuteural midfield role as hes to good to be a tagger, sure Cockies defensive pressure is good but hes got better cattle who should get games ahead of him at the moment, he might well make the cut but hes only really playing because of his size, needs allot of development, where as McGinity might not make the grade so he should be bookmarked for a tagging role.

Thought he was poor.

He's the type of player good sides can carry, currently, you're not a good side.

The kick in which he hit up Hansen was dreadful, got there in the end, but he had virtually no pressure and flour bagged it 45 metres.

Reminds me of Clancey Ruderforth.

just reading through my copy of the draft and found the bits on paddy

Paddy McGinnity had also finished school. he was working as a teacher's assistant and was a product of the programs better links with the WAFL clubs: Gereard McNeil (coach) would never had thought to pick the quiet unassuming defender had McGinnity's coach at Claremont not insisted he pick him. After his scouts returned from Vic Metro's trial games with Trent Cotchin's name bolded circled and underlined, McNeill decided to play McGinnity on him. He could run hard, he was unselfish and he was disciplined. He also didn't know how good he was and during the selection process never actually imagined making the state team. On the last day of the WA training camp the names of 4 bous who'd misssed the final cut had their names written up on the whiteboard when paddy saw the board and realised he wasn't on it he wondered if they'd forgotten about him. McNeill told him he'd playing on Cotchin a week before the match and trying to be ready for a player he'd never seen, paddy watched some of trents highlights... He didnt want to let his coaches down

edit: just realised that this is probably illegal :p

On another note, Ebert made a few mistakes today including an embarrassing mistake on the outer wing where he slipped and missed the ball when he tried to handball it. :p He's made a few embarrassing mistakes including the one versing Collingwood last year when he was trying to keep his feet whilst falling forward at full pace.

Let's hope he gets over this as he bulks up. Don't want him playing like a newborn giraffe for the next 10 years.
