Everyone outside of the PAFC is underestimating how much of a lift that Paddy and Gus will give to the group. Welcome back lads!

Great that we won't be at a 1mil disadvantage next year.

So happy for Ryder and Monfries this coming week. Finally will be able to walk through the doors to our great club once again. Will be a massive morale boost to the club.

Paddy and Gus' suspensions were set to expire on November 13th 2016 but they are allowed a two month reduction in suspension which means the suspension will end at midnight Tuesday September 13th. This means that as of Wednesday morning Paddy and Gus will be back at Alberton.

I am still pretty pissed off at the AFL and at Essendon and harbour the secret wish that once Gus and Paddy are back at Alberton our Club will launch a court action against Essendon just as David Koch threatened back in February. I am not expecting it to happen but ****, I hold Essendon responsible for a lot of our 2016 demise and will never respect them as a football club. Playing withour Paddy and Gus and not getting any top up players affected both our AFL and SANFL prospects. For a Sturt supporting college boy like Gillion McLachlan to get up on TV and tell me I should somehow respect Essendon as a proud member of the AFL sends me over the proverbial. **** off Essendon and **** off Gillion I will never forgive these bastards.

Not quite. The suspension still ends on November 13 but they are permitted to be back at the club in a physical sense two months prior which includes use of facilities, etc. Before that they were literally not even allowed to set foot in the football club for any reason at all. They are still not allowed to train with their teammates or receive instruction from coaching staff or anything like that for another two months.

I do not think that is correct. Paragraph 172 of the CAS Arbitral Award Refers to Article 10.12.2 of the 2015 World Anti Doping Code. The WADC includes this paragraph...

10.12.2 Return to Training
As an exception to Article 10.12.1 an Athlete may return to train with a team or to use the facilities of a club other member organization of a Signatory's member organization during the shorter of (1) the last two months of the Athletes period of Ineligibility or (2) the last one quarter of the period of ineligibility.

As I posted both Paddy and Gus were suspended until 13th of November and the shorter of the two options is two months remission so as I interpret what is written in the judgement they can train with the team as from Wednesday.

There is also a clear acknowledgement by the CAS Panel in Paragraph 172 of the judgement for, 'the need for players to train with their team and keep their fitness in order to be prepared to play once their respective suspensions expire since without the ability to train such suspensions would have an even longer impact on the players' ability to exercise their professions as AFL players.'

From this it appears that both players will be able to train at Alberton from Wednesday. The only drawback is there probably won't be anyone for them to train with. It will be nice to have them back anyway.

Yeah pretty sure those guys are only banned from competing as of this Wednesday morning.

Kenny alluded in a radio interview the other week that Gus and Ryder have had enough time off so will be hitting the training track for full training ASAP - so they won't be waiting for the rest of the boys to return to start their pre-season. Hopefully we've got some crafty ways of getting some real match simulation into those two over the next several months.

Can we please collectively stop with all this college boy name calling crap ? I'm so sick of this "we're the working class" chip on the should bullshit. I went to the same school. So did casual Keith's kid, lachie Neale, Phil Davis, Tom Harely. We aren't bad people.

Criticising those who've lived a life of privilege and who benefit from class inequality is not about a chip on the shoulder. Class differences are actually a thing. The fact that Port Adelaide is historically a working class club is fundamentally at the basis of its culture.

Prejudice is prejudgement or forming an opinion before becoming aware of the relevant facts of a case. The word is often used to refer to preconceived, usually unfavorable, judgments toward people or a person because of their gender, beliefs, values, social class, age, disability, religion, sexuality, race/ethnicity, language, nationality, beauty, occupation, education, criminality or other personal characteristics. In this case, it refers to a positive or negative evaluation of another person based on their perceived group membership.

Okay so you're saying we shouldn't criticise the rich or privileged or those who benefit from inequality because that's prejudice? Come on...
