Okay so you're saying we shouldn't criticise the rich or privileged or those who benefit from inequality because that's prejudice? Come on...

So the best way to create equality is to be prejudice?
You don't get a choice which social class you are born into. Just like you don't get a choice about your gender, genetics or ethnicity. You can hate the system and that's fine but don't begrudge someone for making the most of the opportunities given to them. That's like being pissed off at Garry Ablett Jr for being the best footballer. "well his dad was the best and he got to hang around AFL players his whole life. It's unfair he's so good. What as bad bloke. What a crap world we live in". He may have all that but he worked his ass off to be the best. Nathan could've been anything too, but he squandered his 'privilege'.

How about this for a crazy concept. Judge a man on his merits, not his post code. If you hate Gil because you think he's a dick no worries. If you hate Gil because he went to a private school you are petty and ignorant.

Really don't be so defensive. I don't hate McLaughlin couldn't give a toss about him. Wasn't it yourself that accused the working class of having a collective chip on the shoulder for having a go at those who have infitately more opportunities than them? And really a minor ribbing about being an exclusive private school boy with all the opportunities that provides is not that major a sledge. Suck it up I say like all the advantages that come with it are sucked up. As far as I know though the LNP supporting McLaughlins haven't done that much for economic and social disadvantage except to perpetuate it. I could be wrong though.

Oh and welcome back Paddy And Gus.

No, you simply should not call Gillion McLachlan, who attended The Collegiate School of St Peter and supports Sturt in the SANFL a 'Sturt supporting college boy'. There is nothing prejudiced in that remark as it is fact, the prejudice occurs when someone interprets that as some sort of prejudice. I suspect you got it in one raggy, the person pointing the finger is as prejudiced as the rest of us.

Another fact is that Port supporters have always referred to Sturt supporters as 'college boys', it stems back to the 1960's when Sturt dominated and has a lot to do with the names of streets that run either side of Unley Oval. It is a bit like Manly supporters being labelled Silvertails in the NRL. Only someone with nothing better to do would get upset about it. I never seem to get too upset about being labelled a wharfie.

Me, I am prejudiced, I want anyone bar the Crows to win this Saturday and that undoubtedly makes me prejudiced. As the Crow is black I guess I might also be racially prejudiced. For that I run the risk of being howled down by those high minded and unprejudiced Port supporters like a certain Ms Stokes who does not mind if the Crows win.

But to return to the topic, welcome back Paddy and Gus.

Can we please collectively stop with all this college boy name calling crap ? I'm so sick of this "we're the working class" chip on the should bullshit. I went to the same school. So did casual Keith's kid, lachie Neale, Phil Davis, Tom Harely. We aren't bad people.

That might work all well for a politically correct modern franchise, but for clubs steeped in tradition and culture, these 'prejudices' still have value and binds together. I'm a 'Port Feral' and I'm bloody proud of it. I did not ever live in the Port area though, but am willing to take on the burden of Port prejudices including the 'working class'

I went to a Private School, but I was never rich or privileged. I just didn't want to go to Kapunda High School.

:p

Yeah mate we are. If we want a world where people are treated equally it has to work in all directions, not just the ones of historical significance. We are after inclusion, not exclusion.

Getting given shit for going to a private school/being rich might be distressing, and probably uncalled for, but to suggest it has anything remotely to do with equality is an insanely sheltered view.

If it bothers you enough you can donate all your money to others and become poor like so many are. This doesn’t work the other way around and that is the key difference.

are they actually back today? i thought today was their last day before being able to return to the club tomorrow
They are allowed back at 12.01am tomorrow morning. Would be a good laugh if they were let into the gym at 12.01 and Burgo and co. had an 8 hour session for them.

Even funnier if their watches were 3 minutes fast and they turned up to train at 11.58 am. That would probably make huge headlines. ;)

It will be great if there is a big news story in the TV News about this return. It will make a change from the Eddie everywhere stuff we have been getting lately. I hope both boys look sharp and fit for the cameras.

Won't happen, it will for the Bombers, but no one else.

More they try to sneak into the gym at 12.01 and Burgo stops them with 'Nice try, go run a 3km time trial. Oh and tell Toumpas to hurry up and finish'.

Not from the media, but the AFL will do a big 'Welcome back for Essendon'. I'd be very happy to see PTV do one for the boys, with plenty of commentary we are happy to get our players back from serving a punishment Essendon caused. And do some more on how other clubs won't cheat like the Bombers did. Basically mention Bombers and cheating at least a dozen times to try and counter any positive press those cheating scum get, whilst also welcoming back Paddy and Gus.
